The complete fire book.

Ember Island Players was a delicious, delicious piece of concentrated lampshade hanging. Right about enough to make up for the Southern Raiders, which was... an okay episode but I didn't like it a lot. Too much Katara-angst.
Impatiently waiting for the final now.

I've hardly watched any of the series, but I have to say that final bit was exciting to watch all the same.

The final four episodes, compiled into a two hour series finale was....
Amazing. Azula went from being one of my least favourite, least developed characters in the series to become one of the most well-developed. I honestly felt her frustration, her sadness, her angst, her fear. It was amazing. The futility of her struggle, but the raging passion... It was just hot.
My only complaint is the lack of a certain character (although Zuko mentions them at the end).
The resurgence of a few older characters really was a bit late in the series, but I'll make allowances.
The theatre episode was great, too. Zuko had it spot on - and it was a great recap (though obviously it wasn't accurate).
Toph and Azula take the place of my two favourite characters in the series, followed closely by Zuko and Mae. Iyro as a supporting character somewhere in there, too.
Book Three, overall, felt rather... Rushed to me. They could have drawn it out over a few more episodes, allowed the characters and their relationships to flourish a bit more. Toph's bending at the end was pretty amazing, however. Aang's solution to the Firelord was a bit contrived, but I rather guessed it when he was struggling with the decision. The turn in the battle vs Ozai, however, was pretty lame, to be blunt, however.

The final blowed me away. I won't spoil anything.
Kharaen2008-07-20 23:59:16
The finale was amazing. I loved it, though it felt...short to me. I feel that it could of easily have been twice as long. Toph remains my favorite (my pup is named after her!), and Sokka's still my favorate male, though Zhuko follows close behind.
I heard of purported rumors of a second Avatar series...part of me wants it, part of me doesn't want a good thing ruined by a possible cruddy sequel/prequel series.

Yeah, Book three really seemed rushed to me, and the last scene (ya'll know what i'm talking about) people seem to forget. AANG IS 11!! 12 TOPS! He should not be interested in girls like that
vorld2008-07-21 00:20:15
Aang is 12. I don't see a problem with him and Katara. Zuko is my favorite character
Edit: Aang is 112 technicaly.

technically 112, maybe, but I highly doubt he hit puberty when his manparts were on ice.

Part of the reason the storyline might feel rushed IMO was Nick's boneheaded move to show 10 episodes in 6 days time, with 4 in one day. I think if we had a week to wait for each episode it might not have carried the rushed effect.
There may be a sequel, I think in interviews they said if they did something like that, it would feature the next generation Avatar and not the existing crew. Of course, it depends on what Nick wants to do--they can be stingy with cartoon budgets, but the fact that M. Night S. is doing a live action trilogy to the series might encourage them to develop something new.

Yes, the idea of the live action Avatar seems wonderful; and I do hope that They continue on with the series cause it is amazing to whatch.
Only problem I have is that I once was a big M. Night fan, but recently he has started to let me down.

I think that the Katara and Aang kiss was forced. I think Katara should have gotten with Zuko! I also think there should have been much more Toph, I really <3 Toph.
Doman2008-07-23 04:06:08
I disagree, Myndaen. Zuko/katara fandom was never really viable.
Lysandus2008-07-23 11:55:38
watch the last 6...
wow, just wow...
firebending during sozin's comet was WONDERFUL.
Too bad Iroh didn't show much in the last few moments... would have love him see fighting most of the fire nation army.
Azula and Zuko's Agni Kai was... awesome!
Can we have Pyromancers now?
PS.
Kataang ftw!

Zuko/Katara was never meant to be.
I liked Mae too much to allow that.

Agreed on that too, is it weird we're discussing a children's show so heavily?
Lysandus2008-07-23 13:34:07
That's funny... before when I first watch it, I really think it was a kid's show... and now?
Unknown2008-07-23 22:33:01
Ok, so I finally gotta around to finishing Book 3 and I'm really impressed. I felt an attachment for almost all the characters, even the Fire Lord in a way and when Aang went crazy on him I almost felt bad (I liked how they did that to).
I'm curious to whether or not that last scene with Zuko and Osai was meant as a teaser or what, I dunno. Also the last scene with Katara and Aang, to me, would've been much better if they simply hugged. I felt like it only happened because millions of fangirls/bois expected it to happen.
Otherwise awesome.
