I gave up on asking for those a long, long time ago.
Someone mentioned they'd wait until monks were fully installed, and then give monks and bards guards at the same time.Arel2007-07-24 20:40:37

I haven't heard that, but I the last time I asked about it was before monks were released. I hope you're right.
Unknown2007-07-24 21:30:04
I hope monks won't have to wait as long as bards for their champion artifact either.
But I have to agree, it still feels to me like bards were never really finished since they are still missing things to put them on par with the first three guilds.

i don't think much more nexus powers are needed, especially with constructs giving free discretionary powers. Unless it was something not impacting like surge which empowers ethereal ladies. so bards would get something to power up guards then I guess I'd be okay with that. But anyways, monks need a champ artifact since everyone else has one. guards eventually.
Currently, for races, mugwump is the best race for about half the classes. Best wiccan, best guardian, best bard. And by best I mean choosing best specs too. Though actually I'm still of the opinion that a SD Healer could be on par with an SD Hexen. If I went SD Healer I'd likely go faeling. But in the general where all wiccans are hexens and all guardians are anything combat viable, I'd say mugwump is the best. All the bards fight as a mugwump too.

Male Kephera that take the Monk skills of Shofangi, Nekotai, Ninjaka or Bokenda evolve into 'Horkvali LolKephera', modifying their stats by +5 STR, +5 DEX, +3 CON, -3 INT, +4 SIZE and +lvl 3 blunt/cut resistance.
As a side effect, Ashteru and similar wannabe tanks or warriors kill a kitten each time a Kephera ascends to this stage.

AKA "Lol sorry bards and monks, you got some skillz coded for you, stop expecting to get anything else out of us! We have more important things to do now."
Theomar2007-07-24 22:03:48
Erm. I'm sure they'll give champ artifacts to the monks when all the monk guilds are out. It's the same principle of not giving runes to the monks when they came out: they want to balance the class around the base, not around the people with runes.
Bards... I'm not to sure about when they get guards and powers. I suspect it'll be released at the same time monk powers/guards are released.
Anyways, I don't necessarily think that there needs to be specs for kephera/illithoid monks. The reason it doesn't work is because, for the most part, specs are confined to either the cities or the communes. Viscanti/Merian only change when in Magnagora/New Celest guilds (excluding bards). Elfen/Faeling only change when in Serenwilde/Glomgdoring guilds (again, excluding bards). Since bards/monks aren't confined to either a commune or a city, it doesn't quite make sense RP-wise to give them specs.

I'm praying for something as overpowered as a Warrior helmet.
But I'm dying on the inside knowing that'll never, ever happen. -cough-
The way I see it, Specs come from something that is deeply tied with the history of the Commune/City. Sacraments, Moon/Stag/Crow/Night, Geomancy/Druidry/Aquamancy, etc. all have a large history and involvement in the organization they're in. Bards and Monks, however, are more recent teachings to the organization and haven't had the 'time' for anything in them to grow into a sort of Specialization (from an IC perspective, at least.)

patchou is pretty sick too :/

Shhh, you're a seren, you're supposed to say "Patchou is underpowered plz buff, also shuck is OP, plz nerf." like everyone else.

Each commune/city should have at least one additional race specialization. Glom needs an elfen spec so that I'm not the only one in the commune.
Laysus2007-07-25 10:21:42
Shadowlord monks would be nasty :/
Shiri2007-07-25 10:26:48
It also occured to me to ask if monks/bards are likely to ever get third skillchoices! Not soon, I suspect, but later.

I’ve thought about suggesting that before, but never have cause I get this far:
Glomdoring: Viscanti and Orclach
Serenwilde: Elfen and Faeling
Glomdoring: Elfen and Faeling
New Celest: Merian and, uh……
Ackleberry: Furrikin and Tae’dae
Hallifax: Lucidian and Trill
Gaud…
And then I think but, wait, then Glom and Seren have the same races, meh, and there is no other historically sensible race for Celest, and Ackleberry and Hallfax aren’t even released yet, so this is all pretty pointless. And then I give up.

I see no issue with Seren and Glom having the same races but different specs. I've always thought that it makes more sense for the current specs to be reversed. Serenwilde should have the Faeling spec because of the connect to Ellindel and her connection to healing the fae. Glom should have the Elfen spec because they are shards of Elfenhoala(sp.?) and She awakened Mother Night.
New Celest lacking a second race would make for a potential event introducing a Celest specific race.

Third? We only have one, and that doesn't count as there's no reason to recommend Ecology to anyone now, so we effectively have zero choices. Count your blessings!

We get to choose between acrobatics/psionics, but acro doesn't even seem to compare to psymet, so that isn't much of a choice either. There are some people going with acro instead, but not many that I know of.

Acro seems a better choice than psymet, imho.
