The fact that you are is not to your credit, TES.
Tajalli2007-07-28 20:39:36
Yes, GHELP BLACKTHORN. It is indeed really easy, and not as time consuming or a pain as you are playing it up to be. The discussions are not a 'graded assignment' and you aren't kicked out for not having the same views as others.

Side note: Yes, this is ROLEPLAY. Thus, the guild has something other than just hunting requirements.

To pass out of the Assembly, complete THREE of the tasks below and
contact an undersecretary, secretary, or member of the Chosen to
evaluate your progress. Be sure to message the Keeper when you are
finished and ready to progress to the next Assembly.

1. DOCET: Study the Docet and discuss it with two or more druids, one
of whom must be a guild official (undersecretary or higher).
2. ASPECT: Briefly explain, verbally or in writing, the Aspect with
which you identify most.
3. PATRONS: Be able to point out Lady Viravain's key teachings.
4. LITURGY: Perform the liturgy from the guild library with a partner.

Yep, easy.

Well, we'd love to have you, but you should probably also think about the things that make the game most fun for you. Blacktalon is a very mythos-heavy, story-heavy, RP-heavy guild, and if that sort of thing doesn't really tick your time bomb, you might not enjoy it that much.

If that DOES motivate you, then you'll probably fit right in.

It's not the having stuff to do, it's the making the stuff mandatory, that is why people resent it. Give people options and possibilities, and they'll do twice as much as if you give them requirements and limitations. Even if they're easy, they're still more likely to inspire fleeting resentment than lasting enthusiasm.

Aren't newbie tasks optional by definition?

The Blackthorn was designed to be ridiculously easy as long as you play nicely with others. It's not possible to do without talking to and working with people other than your official tester. That's all it's meant to do: facilitate socialization.

Yeah..I guess it's not so bad once you think about it...I mean I COULD be in the Ur'Guard...they have to take four tests to even pass novicehood :S :@
Aramel2007-07-29 09:35:30
I played an Achaean druid before coming to Lusternia. It was... difficult. But hey, I survived.
Unknown2007-07-29 11:16:24
You think that's bad? Wait 'til you see the novice Maldaathi requirements...one of them is to have a background written..:S

You should have a background for your character in mind anyway. tongue.gif

EDIT: Wait, are 12 year olds allowed to play Lusty? O.o
Shiri2007-07-29 11:30:21
Lusternia is 13+.

Writing a background is not nearly as bad as some guilds there (old Druids, gah) but I'm very glad Lusternia obviates the need to do that here.
Aramel2007-07-29 11:37:19
The new druids (druid house) ask for a background too. Thank goodness I actually like writing the stuff, otherwise I'd go crazy.

Edit: And what do twelve-year-olds have to do with this? confused.gif
Unknown2007-07-29 11:56:20
His profile says he's 12.
Unknown2007-07-29 14:52:11
Yes, 12 year olds, even younger are allowed to play IMK, read HELP UNDERAGE it says any player regardless of age can play as long as they act maturely....and I do just that

Actually, they changed the policy a bit back, due to new laws in the US.
Shiri2007-07-29 14:55:21
Hmm. I think that file is out of date. I definitely remember something about a minimum age of 13 a while ago. Might be wrong though.

Nope, I'm remembering the same thing.
Unknown2007-07-29 15:10:01
Yeah min age is 13 now.

Gods, I think I wrote like... 6 essays while I was a Sylvan in Achaea. I was so naive then (and Lusternia hadn't existed yet).
