You missed my point, I think. You buy a pet and get the mail add-on, but you could consider that you bought a mail system with a pet add-on. And, no belching letters at me, please! Eww.
I get your point I just don't agree. A pet can do much more than deliver mail.
If I am ever actually on at a point when Seren and Glom have conflict I'll save a belch for you.

Ooers!
Concoctionist's Cauldron - Comes with a little supply cabinet. Gather certain supplies like oysters, apples, and certain herbs to create concoctions and elixirs of various effects! Slip poisons to mobs you don't like, impairing quests until the cure can be found or the mob is killed. Heal the mobs in the same way! Make yourself older or younger for a day, or splash someone with a substance to make them hiccup blue bubbles for the next month. Every cauldron comes with a long wooden stirring spoon, a ladel, and a cabinet to keep your ingredients in. And why spoil the fun? There may be a help file for the ingredients to use, but you have to experiment to find out what sort of substances you can make.
Tutor Request System - manse artifact that makes a small panel in your fulcrux room. TOUCH the panel for information on certain tutors available. HIRE a tutor in your manse to teach certain skills without the hassle of going to your city/commune. Tutors remain for a day, attacking a tutor makes them immediately leave.
Tutor: Proficiencies
Malkal (Merian) Aquamancy; Illusions/Phantasms; Magic
Golb (Gnome) Aethercraft/Empath
Ralses (Viscanti) Necromancy; Hexes; Influence
Etc...
Food gardens! - Forget having to wander around finding things to cook with. Grab an apple or pick a carrot from your very own garden!
The first two may never be implemented, but I shall live in hope...

It bears the distinctive mark of Aesyra.
... it would say ...
Its distinctive mark can no longer be discerned.
Yay for trading with enemies!! Please!

Something that lets you connect manses together, with permission from both owners
Portable shops
Masks that mask your identity
Something that lets you understand more/all languages
Something that affects people's marks on items (though, items should not come with marks, putting a mark on something should be done with an artifact!)
An artifact that recalls your artifacts
Aetheric tether, lets anyone portal enter into your manse(s) (if they have permissions) from that spot, tether can be moved, and when it's in your inventory it still works, but only for you

Request denied.
The items usually invisible on IH and LOOK are quest stuff that you aren't supposed to see in the first place. The hints for it being there are in the desc of the room. Go and quest the normal way like everyone else!

I could see a ?dimensional anchor? type item being really cool. If you set it up right(removes it from portals, can't be a ship, needs perm if inside a city/commune) it lets us expand, especially with customisation if you could decide on how people get in (Touch an obelisk, enter a pool, cu and then dive)

In regards to the portable manse...
Add syntax so you can pickup and drop it. Allow an addition for like 1000 credits to make it a shop.. the ackleberry triplejunction tavern for instance? also depends how many rooms you could have with you, couldnt collapse it if anyone is in it, only owner can close it, anyone who would log in there is dropped at avechna or something? or maybe just cant log out inside.
Give it power to take manse artys.
Greenhouse so you can raise herbs in it!

I would really love a greenhouse, garden, or whatever you want to call it, so I can plant herbs in my manse. Oh, the things I would grow there.

Hmm. An enchanted pot for one herb of your choosing?
You plant one type of herb in it and it grows as if it was in its natural environment, subject to the usual peak and hibernation cycle. To plant a new type of herb, you harvest out the pot. It's like a bit of land you can carry with you. Or leave the pot in your manse to be part of a potted plant garden.

I like the idea, especially if you could harvest it out and plant something different next time. It wouldn't have to be portable, but nice if it was because then you could roleplay with it a bit, too, instead of just hiding it in your garden room. At the right price, I'd buy a dozen or so pots and just have a nice-sized farm growing!

Yeah. I'd like to customise the appearance of one and wield it for fun!
I was hoping a portable pot would get around the time limit for replanting herbs in new locations too.
Malarious2007-08-03 16:14:29
Exactly what I mean! Imagine gardens! Grow your own herbs! You would have to pay a fortune to have tons of them or have rooms worth of a single herb.. but would be fun! (sparkle planting anyone?)

I don't like the idea of any artifact that cuts into the business of specific trades. Growing sparkleberry in a pot? I think not.

It'd allow for Sparkleberry without the insanity...
... which is probably why it'd never go in. Even if it did, I imagine sparkles would be excluded.
Malarious2007-08-03 18:05:11
I expect these would cost credits and would you pay 100 or even 50 to raise something that costs 25-50 per? Maybe, would you want to do it in the numbers that you might use? same hundres or multiple pots? I would hope not. This would also allow herbs that often get in danger of dying to be harvested anyway, I could see ab herbalist make enough gold to stop harvesting and start raising the plants themselves. As the demand for a plant went up you could get more pots if you had the credits... just to prevent having tons of these, I expect they wouldnt be 20 creds or anything or they would likely be far too cheap, even though you would likely need a ton.. also the growth rate could be changed, such as 1 new herb grows every other month if it is truly needed. This is not intended to destroy herbs trade (which you cant see it doing without ALOT of people buying quite a few of these.. and even then it might need a small arty to allow an herbalist to harvest some of the plant into the container). But things like sargassum, merbloom, sparkleberry, earwort, and such that are often low availability or in overly high demand could be great for pots.
Would sparkleberry pots make sparkleberry cheaper? Yes and no, people might just buy more since its more available. The pot would -in time- pay for itself, but that is a neat little investment, and would help in times of major need (the times when earwort was being stripped... for instance had these been out instead of changing earwort growth people could have planted it)... also believe sargassum and merbloom are hard to get as they are sea and water herbs, but they arent tended too well from what I know.
Again -THIS IS NOT AN HERBALISM- replacement, this is intended to aide. And having herbs available too cheap means the person would run out, not that having herbs drop a gold each would be cataclysmic.. but come on.. an herbalist can harvest a whole forest for galingale, coltsfoots, etc.. but a pot that might grow 1 new herb every month is not going to compete with harvesting 30+ rooms, that would be alot of pots.. and that is per herb type. Things of high value and low supply are the most likely to be put in pots. And sometimes its best that something is there to control things.. you want to invest 300 credits so you can have a days worth of sparkleberry? sure. Want to sell the sparkleberry? also fine but it would take ALOT of sparkle to even break even.
EDIT: As a note, sparkleberry has always been on astral, neurosis was added after.. I think neurosis was to control how long you could bash on astral (so you couldnt spend your life there) not to control herbs in any way.

As a note, the admin have stated an opposal to ideas that allow herbalists to harvest without getting insanity (and would still leave the herbalist getting insanity at full-rate if actively hunting there). It may've been originally intended as a bashing mechanism, but it's part of the whole Astral scene now, including sparkleberry.
