Wow just Wow. shocked.gif I've been looking through some posts. Half reading them half just looking at the signatures. There are some pretty amazing ones out here and I decided I'm going to try to add my artistic talent to the signature pools. I havent made alot yet but I will put new ones when I make them here.

((thats actualy the first one for lusternia I made))

I'm quite willing to take requests I can draw pretty much anything and everything will be, or attempted to be done.

Just a few pointers:

1. Going crazy with brushes, while -can- be good, isn't always. You need to be going for some effect.
2. It's a little too big.
3. Fitting more of the stock into the sig doesn't make it better.
4. Try and get the colors of the background to match the stock.
5. Also, always have a border. Always always always. 99% of the time, a one pixel black border is -perfect-. If you need tips on how to do one over top of brushing, let me know.

Edit: Do gotta say though, putting the text on the armor is pretty neat looking. On the chest anyway.

Thats close to being great, though - look at the suggestions, make another version? I like the effect in the background, but it *does* kinda clash with the foreground guy, at the moment. Also, the tilted text is kinda neh.

But E for effort wooo!

Well, instead of bashing your artistic abilities, I'm going to put them to the test! Now, I realize that I've got a custom siggy already, but seeing as to how I just love having them, I'm more than willing to put in another one, as long as it's not too big. SO! Here is what I wish:

A Monk (as in a Buddhist monk) sitting cross-legged with his fists together over his chest meditating, with an aura around him. Aura color, if possible, I'd like it to be kind of a rainbow of colors kinda clashed together, but if that's not possible, then just the standard light blue Aura'll be just fine. Under the Monk, I'd like the words:

Z.D.
Deadening arms since '03

(The slogan's a personal thing that I'll tell you all another time if you truly wish to hear it)

Thank you EVER so much in advance!

Hmmm, any idea how to shrink images? I know mine is too big, but how do you shrink it?
Minie2007-08-09 04:46:34
Actualy it depends on whether it is image size or file size?
Unknown2007-08-09 05:07:16
Image size, i believe content.gif

Slightly better, as the background matches the stocks a little more, but still needs a good deal of work, a few more tips.

1. Remember, add a border. If you're doing this in photoshop, the method I use to add a 1 pixel black border to a brushed sig:
a. Add a new layer over all of the rest, and fill it with solid white.
b. Under blending options for that layer, set the drop down box to "darken"
c. Now, click on "stroke" in that same window, and change the color to black, and change it from "outside" to "inside". Presto!

2. Unless you REALLY know what you're doing, never use bevel and emboss. It is like a trap for newbie graphic artists, and has a way of making things look really cheezy. Especially don't use it on text.

3. More stock images doesn't equal better, one is usually perfect for something like a sig.

4. Okay, here is one problem I see a lot of novice graphic artists making: Real people on a computer generated background. I made this mistake when I was a newbie, and I think just about everyone does. When you take a real person, like the monks in that sig, and then put them against a computer generated background, like the brushes you used, it never works. They just don't mesh. If you use real people, you're going to have to use -real- stock as your background. You might think that limits your creativity, but it doesn't. You can do all sorts of effects to the stock bg, and even some subtle brushing if you're careful.

5. Adding a 1 pixel stroke to your text is usually a good idea. I can think of a few instances when it's not, but 95% of the time you should put a stroke on your text. This helps decrease the cheezyness factor, and add unity to the sig.

Keep working at it, though!

Thanks again for the very helpful tips.
Unknown2007-08-09 06:58:14
No problem. Here's a little something simple I made up real fast, to sort of illustrate my points, using a stock similar to the one you used in your first sig. It's all in the little details.
Jasmin2007-08-09 07:27:48
I like that one, Deschain

Makes it all tie in together
