ANNOUNCE NEWS #869
Date: 8/12/2007 at 4:07
From: Estarra, the Eternal
To : Everyone
Subj: Of Collegiums and Artifacts
The Ancestral Glade of the Moonharts in the Serenwilde Forest has
opened, which is the first of our collegiums. You will note a new
command called COLLEGE and note a new honours line (everyone is assumed
graduated from their respective collegiums). The Serenwilde Collegium is
not officially open to novices, but rather those in the Serenwilde
Forest can become familiar with the area, test the collegium quests, and
the chancelleors of the collegium (the Guild Administrators) can work
out what help files to write and appoint professors. Once they are
ready, we will engage the collegium system for Serenwilde. Once the
system is active, only new novices will be in the collegium system,
everyone else is grandfathered under the old system. Note that you can
still get your graduation "honours" even after graduating from the
collegium (i.e., go back and finish the quests). See HELP COLLEGIUM to
see how it works.
As an added bonus, as the collegiums open, the Guild Administrators and
Guildmasters of that Collegium will receive special artifacts of their
office. The Guild Administrator artifact allows him or her to teleport
to or summon novices, as well as hold deeds to clans. The Guildmaster
artifact allows the Guildmaster to give a special honour to a
guildmember once a Lusternian year, which adds an honour line and acts
as a very substantial guild and city/commune favour. Also, the
Guildmaster can perform a rite once a lusternian month that will
increase the experience of every guildmember who participates in the
rite (the more guildmembers who attend, the more experience is given
out).
Penned by My hand on the 11th of Dvarsh, in the year 183 CE.
I couldn't contain my excitement... this looks so good! I've been waiting for it for a while.
A question though, what exactly does it mean to 'hold deeds to clans'? And those GM arties are mighty nice...

RESIGN AS ADMINISTRATOR OF CANTORS
CONTEST DOMAN AS GUILDMASTER OF CANTORS
Unknown2007-08-12 04:17:13
I'm excited. Helping novices plus new Artifacts. I think that the "hold deeds" thing lets clans switch with the position of Admin instead of staying with the person after they have been successfully contested, thats a complete guess though.
Daganev2007-08-12 04:17:20
Ohh very exciting. I'm very excited
Good stuff.
Just one small question... why Seren and will collegiums be released with monks?

When an Administrator holds the deed to a clan, they can then change the leader of that clan at their desire. Essentially, it allows the Administrator to permanently control a guild's clans.

What is the point of this?
(Not complaining in any way, just confused!)

Sweet! More power *cackle*
@Shiri: I'm assuming it's useful for when the leader of a clan goes inactive and forgets to resign. I guess you could always contest the leader in that case, but insta-switching is faster. Maybe there's more to it, not sure.

Inacative GA, gets ousted, new GA gets control of clan.
It so a guild can safely buy a clan and not worry about it being lost.
Unknown2007-08-12 04:23:11
Ahh, very nice. I was wondering why Serenwilde though? Are they going to be released with monks? Or was it just random?
Morgfyre2007-08-12 04:25:06
The others will be released in the coming weeks, each in their own turn. Serenwilde was picked first because they can benefit the most from the Collegium (having more guilds than the other orgs).

well I am stealing on Collegiums spotlight, but would such an artifact ever be considered for cityleaders. While the guildmaster one is nice I think the clan deeds would be extremely handy for city clans like celest has the brigade and aviators and so on.

clans change together with new leaders instead of having to rely on gods to change clans for inactive clan leaders ?

Makes sense. It seems to do more than that, too.
Since it's available to everyone in the near future I'll just post what it does here:
GUILD LEDGER CLANS
- List clans deeded to your guild.
GUILD LEDGER CLAN
- List information about a clan deeded to your guild.
GUILD LEDGER CLAN
- Transfer ownership of a clan deeded to your guild.
GUILD LEDGER FIND
- Find the location and area of a guild novice.
GUILD LEDGER SUMMON
- Summon a guild novice.
GUILD LEDGER TELEPORT
- Teleport to a guild novice.
GUILD LEDGER MEMBERS
- Summarize guild member information.
GUILD LEDGER RANKS
- Summarize guild ranks and their usage.

She is a graduate of the Empyreal Academy.
Woo! I like that name.

I'd just like to stop in and say....amazing job on this. I'm working on one of the quests as we speak, and it is incredibly well done. I think this is perfect for keeping young novices in Lusternia. The quests are simple without being too easy, and also require a good deal of moving around to solve, helping novices to get around.
Not only that, but they teach a great deal about the history of the area. It's perfect for immersion.
Kudos.
Edit: Can't express how much fun this thing is. XD I wish we'd had them when I was a novice. It introduces you lightly into every aspect of the game.
Also, something I thought was interesting is that even if you quit your commune/city and join another, it will always say which one you graduated from.

Everywhere is cool except....
He is a graduate of the Shadowmaze.
He is a graduate of the College of Necromantic & Tainted Research.
He is a graduate of the Ancestral Glade of the Moonharts.
He is a graduate of the Empyreal Academy.
Most sound awesome, but the glom one reads more like "This one went to community college." Compared to the rest. Heh

That's what it will show.
Mine says:
You are a graduate of the Ancestral Glade of the Moonharts (honours), the Shadowmaze, the Empyreal Academy, and the College of Necromantic & Tainted Research.

yes angry smiley.
I everything that's been added with the sole exception of the planes quest in the serenwilde collegium. Depending on glomdoring, you can get a max 75 of 100 points on your own as a 1-20 novice(50 without).
You need either high planar (nexus high) or an aethership to get enough points for the quest. Moonchilde will get you the rest if novices don't get hit by gloms totem, I just think the weighting on certain places needs to be changed so it's actually feasible for off peak novices to complete it rather than frustrating them because they can't

Apparently the point is that they ask for help.

I can get that, but with the easily accessible and safe locations I think you still come up 5 points short (water/earth 10, nil/celestia 20, faethorn 15, etherseren/moon 50 = 95) So even with help they still need to go to Glomdoring/Night/Astral or get a ship to Candyland (i think, unless the numbers are off or I forgot somewhere )

A couple of questions:
What about guild aetherships?
Commune/city clans?
Commune/city aetherships?
(I think the GA artifact is an awesome first step, but there are a few other things).
As to commenting on the Collegiums-- going to have to wait until I can experience one.
I would love not having Commune possessions tied to me. This way, I'd know that if something happens to me... everyone's not just stuck.
