So, does Superego have any effect, and if so, what is it?
Unknown2007-08-17 11:27:01
It's an ego loss reduction, of course.
Jack2007-08-17 11:57:22
How much of a reduction? Does it help in just influencing, or debating? Does it have any effect on the ego lost due to forcefield?
Unknown2007-08-17 12:47:37
I think it reduces your ego loss no matter what, though I could be wrong.
Acrune2007-08-17 15:37:06
I know it reduces the cost of my bard skills by a tiny amount (12 less for something that costs 250 ego, I think)
Shiri2007-08-17 15:40:35
Ohhh. 5% reduction to ego denting then. Interesting. No wonder it was never noticeable while influencing mobs.
Unknown2007-08-17 23:43:52
Is it worth while going past superego in Influence?
Rika2007-08-18 00:03:32
You get the last skills of each influence type. Also get diplomacy and a defence against disloyalty.

I know what skills come after superego I am wondering if anyone with experience finds the investment to be worth it. I had recieved the opinion previously that it is not but that was well more then a year ago. Is that opinion still valid?
Shiri2007-08-18 01:04:03
I think you need wheedling to be good at begging. Diplomacy is also nice - if every community has a few people with it it's convenient to get unenemied.

It's only worth it if you can see yourself using diplomacy or if you are an ent class.
Although learning one skill up for wheedling is probably worthwhile if you're going to influence stuff.
Hyrtakos2007-08-18 01:35:53
what is the drain like on charismatic aura?
Unknown2007-08-18 01:37:01
Hmm. Alright thanks. I may go up to wheedling as the fae have the right disposition for it. I don't influence for gold but for esteem.

Minimal.

Ok, tested with and without Superego
Without:
950
917
1022
1042
1042
With:
895
879
890
Seems more like a 10% resistance to me?

It looks like you tested in an influence/debate situation, where values will fluctuate quite a bit. It's better to test it more the way Acrune did, on abilities that use up a fixed amount of ego (Psionics, maybe).

Hi, I was wondering about Ancestralcurse. Is it really just an 8p afflict that can be cured instantly by focus spirit? That seems kinda pointless. Any info on the skill would be much appreciated.
edit: Completely wrong topic to put this in, but for some reason I couldn't start a new topic. Bear with me!

No. AncestralCurse is much like Choke and Dark, it's a Room Effect. It cannot be cured by Focus Spirit because it afflicts you through an Ent.
Unknown2007-08-24 02:58:03
I see. Thanks for the info!
Unknown2007-08-24 03:22:06
Dark can be used as a targetted effect too.
Also remember that Focus Spirit will eat a lot of your mana (25% max), making you very susceptible to mana-based instakills. Coincidentally, archetypes with mana kills are those that use FocusSpirit-able afflictions.
