And what if it was an internal survey of 5,000 women from 17 different countries across 6 continents, done by the L'Oréal marketing department?

Of people shopping at expensive cosmetics stores?

The number is ridiculous, even by American standards, and we're the ones most likely to inflate that number.

- More than 40,000 parasites and 250 types of bacteria are exchanged during a typical French kiss

I feel the urge to go brush my teeth right now.

The fact that you are all arguing about something that was posted for the fun and enjoyment of all of us...

Is fun and enjoyable.

As for blue birds. I know that they are attracted to red and blue. No idea if they acctually percive it as the colours red and blue.

What's with some of you and saying 'There's a slit?'

Do none of you look at what you're wearing? blink.gif

Not all male underwear has a slit.

I had assumed from that, that bluebirds are color blind, just as bees are.

So, generally, believing those statistics would have made me dumber?
Too bad, it's better not to know than to know wrong.
Anyway, one thing I learned from here (or rather that prompted me to look it up) is the exact definition of agoraphobia. I thought it has a bit different meaning, as in fear of open spaces literally.

Doubly wrong! First, most birds have tetrachromacy, meaning they have better colour vision than we do. Insects have been known to be able to distinguish colour (As walk through a flower garden will tell you) well into the infrared and ultraviolet ranges (As a walk through a flower garden with a handheld spectroscope will tell you).

Also: Regardless of whether there is one study or not that shows the spurious 53% figure, that is irrelevant to the truth-value of the affirmation. "True" (In a very weak sense of the word) statistical figures can only be relied upon if they come from meta-analysis, not from this or that study.
