Hm I don't know. The thing is RM has never caused lag for almost 2 rl years since the game opened. The lag with RM only started a few months back, no clue why. Maybe we just hit a critical amount of messages total or messages per character.

I even bugged it when I found out that RM suddenly -did- lag the server and thus the whole game.. I was told it wasn't a bug but I do think it's something that needs to be addressed eventually. From this point onwards it can only get worse as the amount of messages and characters will only continue to grow.

If it's not a bug does this mean I won't get shrubbed for abusing it? Just imagine. Claws+burst+burst+LAGDEMBITCHES! = death by bleeding.

It's actually stored in SQL using the same system as Achaea. Some of these queries were optimized not too long ago, but it sounds like a few bad ones still remain.

I check my messages here like I do the ones at work. If they're in my inbox, it's something I haven't done. If my inbox is empty, I'm in a temporary state of nirvana.

Yup. I realized shortly after posting that I was wrong. I thought that only Achaea had the SQL message code (created by my favorite patron, Prospero) and the other games would have to do it their own way. Our message system looks like the same old thing on the surface, which gave me the impression that it wasn't SQL code underneath.

I do the exact thing, both at work and in Lusternia. I'll never understand people (mostly everyone I know) who keep virtually every single message in their inbox. twitch.gif

I think I have about a gigabyte of archived emails, but mostly because of my previous job. No need to keep excruciating records in Lusternia, no one's going to sue me since we don't have lawyers. I like keeping my messages here empty, and I hate having to MSGS # to find the latest message I'm told I received. I'd never have to if I didn't have to keep track of votes and things for the star council. Democracy.. (Ecclesiarch for Emperor! superninja.gif)

I always keep it less than twenty, though. Sometimes I send myself a summary message so I can delete other messages to clear things up, or just keep track of it in notepad.

I identified one, possibly two, problem queries. The one that is definitely a problem has been rewritten to hopefully play nicer with the DBMS. We'll see what the logs say in a day or so.

There are fewer spurts, but still the occassional bit where I can pull up Google faster than I can get a response from the game.

There's always going tobe some lag. (Especially if you see that notice about reloading the game.) The main thing would be how it compares to other IRE games since we're on the same network.

Though I am playing from China, and I have always had a little bit of lag from my dorm room. I seem to get lag during PVE as a monk... more-so than normal...

More lines received in a limited amount of time = more processing that must be done by your client.

Too true, damned Chinese internet. I never had spam problems before, and I know I don't have any crazy triggers like enemy name colouring or anything like that running.
