Yeah, in my registration, i'm almost 50 years old
Heh, should you be admitting that in a place so easily found by the admins?

Yeah, I think the last weave fixed it.
Shiri2007-08-24 01:18:24
Okay...registered again, but it's still spamming me.
EDIT: Nevermind, fixed.

Have you checked your email and clicked on the link in the support email sent out?
Verithrax2007-08-24 01:39:51
Well, Inox, I guess nobody has told you about the One and Only Tried and True Test of Gender!
Step one: Which gender do you feel like saying you are? Say you are that.
Step two: Failing that, check under your undergarments.
Step three: Failing that: Heads male, tails female.
Your problem is solved!
(Trying to be funny. Please don't hit me.)

Why are male and female the only options for gender in the new registration process? I realize the admins aren't trying to be insensitive, but I'm now unable to register without lying. Is there any way this could be changed to include a "none of the above" or "genderqueer" option, or something of the like? Alternatively, is there a way to exit the registration process without completing it, and what happens if I don't register?
Here's an idea: Pretend that the option for "Gender" is meant to say "Sex" and answer truthfully (because it's pretty likely that that's the answer they really want), or flip a coin and stop making a scene.

Yay, these 5 Bound Credits gave me just enough lessons to reach Gifted in Glamours.

Inox, you should follow the legal laws for purposes of Registration, since it's more or less a contract or agreement of the TOS. If the law recognizes you as Male, choose Male, if Female, choose Female.
I don't really believe there can be a "none of the above" category. Transgender (in an over-simplified term) means that either you've had sexual reassignment surgery, or you more or less just take on the behavior roles (cross-dressing). From a biological perspective, you're either XX or XY (save for weird biological mutations).
I would hate for us to suddenly have 12 categories for "what sex are you". Keep the gender a bit/boolean variable!

Inox's vice is that gender is mental while sex is physical, and the registration form asks for sex but uses the word "gender".
Inox2007-08-24 03:34:18
Exactly, Cuber.
And I'm not trans, I'm pretty much a-gendered.

Ofcourse.
There is the Law of gravity, Law of attraction, Law of cosines.

... Why is the gender important for the new registration process? I'm tempted to type in male just to screw the statistics.
I'm also tempted to use a mailinator email address for this.. though I probably really shouldn't.

If you don't have the right email registered, they're generally unwilling to, say, reset your password if you lose it, and stuff like that.

I doubt that the gender is actually used for anything, I mean, they're not going to say, ok, send us your birth certificate so we can actually prove that you are indeed female, and thus we can restore your password!

Might actually be interesting in a statistic on which group of people tends to play IRE games, mostly based on gender and age. Of course how many people register with their real information is another question. I couldn't even blame them for not doing so. I'm -extremely- paranoid about giving out any kind of personal information on internet.
