Alright, list the pros and cons of each.

The Nihilists have Balizar, whereas the Geomancers have Reiha. waggle.gif
Stangmar2007-08-24 23:50:36
wrong! The Ur'Guard have Balizar now. Oh, and the Geomancers have Stang as well as Reiha!

You were Blacktalon, right?

If you liked BT combat, you'll probably really like Geomancer combat. It's still demesne work, but you're punchier, kill faster, and infinitely better against groups (but lose the sap lockdown and high mobility).

If you were bored waiting for opponents as a BT, you want the Nihilists.

Nihilists are more mobile than Geomancers and have a broader range of afflictions, but are very power intensive. Geomancers can do more damage and are better against groups, but the staple of their offense, their demesne, isn't portable and requires time to set up.

Also, the Nihilists have me - which is a huge drawback really. Pick Geomancers unless you can put up with an ironfisted, apparently biased and whimsical, gloomy Guildmaster.

Awww, that's not true.

(But yeah I'm much better. Plus if you're into combat the Geomancers are in neeed)

Them are my favorite kind freaked.gif

Oh, and the Geo's know how to have fun. Those of us with dominate sit there and try to make each other embarrass themselves. Usually via hitting on Veo.

i think I'm gonna join the Nihilists
Revan2007-08-26 18:47:36
Hmm, if you join the Geomancers, I can hook you up with all the how-to's and stuff of combat. Geomancers are just as portable as Nihilists if you have psionics. I hardly use my demesne, really, so yea...
Stangmar2007-08-26 21:49:27
Yeah Psionics is the #T#%#. I can't wait to Trans it. I'm at Mythical Telepathy with 27% to Trans.

I'd recommend the Nihilists for any starting player. They have a depth that is unlike any other guild in Lusternia. Combatwise, depending on what you choose as your tertiary skill, you have the access to more ways of killing people than any other guild. Go Nihilist, you won't regret it. biggrin.gif

only way that is really helpful...is if you know how to script in MushClient and can teach me. Otherwise, knowing how to use my skills is still going to be useless.

I would say it depends on your combat style. I did well with affliction-based combat as a moondancer, and enjoy guardians quite a bit. I was a geomancer for awhile, but I didn't have nearly as much fun with them, and to be honest I sucked at combat as a geo. Telepathy is still affliction based, but it relies pretty heavily on luck or groups in my experience; one-on-one against a good curer you will have trouble without a demesne unless you put in a lot of time and practice.

For combat which is better hexes or tarot? I've been told that Astrology is pretty poor unless you are one of the very few that can figure it out and use it...

Tarot hands down, though hexes are improving thanks to Malarious. Thoros is working out strategies for astrology as well.

Ok so another thing...I've noticed a lot of people are Viscanti...is there another good race for Nihilist? Like Aslaran or something? Right now I'm human for the experience and gaining circles. Later on though I want to...rp doing a ritual to change my race. Any suggestions or ideas?

And sorry for asking so many questions.

Viscanti actually suck, people go with it because it's good for RP. There are a lot of options depending on how you want to kill. For tarot afflictions, aslaran can be nice. You might use mugwump for faster eq abilities, or I've seen some Celestines just go as tanky races, since int isn't incredibly important for fighting (though it is for hunting). I'm really not the absolute authority, but aslaran seems to be the top choice.
Jack2007-08-29 21:59:00
I'd say aslaran for Nihilist since speed is the most important factor in their combat. (Celestines have quite a different fighting style to Nihilists, whereby they rely more on surviving through tanking than overloading with afflictions, meaning tanky races > speed for them.)
Shamarah2007-08-30 16:55:13
For nihilists, be aslaran if you're tarot, mugwump if you aren't.
