I don't really know if this will help or harm but I thought of it and decided I would post it here to see what people think.
I once played a mud that broke its forums down by player orgs and it helped raise a sense of community OOC that I think stayed faily positive.
Maybe have a temporary Forum section just for Glomdoring members, membership through messaging an Immortal or something. Have it heavily moderated and such for people that are just there to distrupt. I can't be certain this forum wouldn't fall apart into ranting and raving but it could always just be closed. It would be temporary anyway so hopefully after Glomdoring has been resolved it would be closed.
I think this would be helpful because Estarra mentioned at that Summit she would like players to speak OOCly about changes in Glomdoring with eachother and I wasn't sure if they had a reliable way to communicate that way. If they don't, maybe try this.
I don't have much personal interest in Glomdoring except that the few characters Sheia has met with there have been very interesting for the most part and I do hope those players stay around. I also want Lusternia to be as fun as it can be, for as many people as possible.
Thoughts?

Nice idea! hard to implement.
Might as well use the collegium clan for that stuff maybe?

It might be better in a clan yes. I just figured it might be easier to moderate arguements and nonsense and such here, not sure though!

I think an explicitly OOC channel for Glom members for the next month would be a great idea. Maybe only the people out of newbiehood? Only so a new person doesn't join and think we have chat channels.
Ildaudid2007-09-04 23:59:12
You would need to ask Estarra to make a sub forums like we have for the monk development team, and then have the glom members in it and of course daganev or nejii moderating it.
No disrespect to Daganev, but from reading the glom summit thing, maybe nejii should moderate it, since it seems like he was one of the ones that seemed to "bully" the gloms around (honestly daganev, I am not saying this is fact, it is just the impression I have, so if you are not moderating it, maybe people will be more open??)
I don't see it being hard to do, just a little time consuming for estarra to set up for you all, which could be a problem.

Shouldn't it be fairly easy to throw up a subforum? I remember Estarra did it for the Project Z thing that definitely wasn't as big a deal as potentially closing Glomdoring. As long as some of the players (leadership of Glomdoring) could add people to subforum, then it shouldn't be a problem, right?
Estarra2007-09-05 00:31:27
Its a huge pain to make a restricted forum like the monk forum only usable by Glomdoring players. I think having individual threads is fine or using a clan.

We can call the channel: Endless Summit!
"The problem is that we're too APATHETIC around here."
"No, the real problem is that we lack DEFINITION!"
"No, the real problem is that we're too secretive."
"No, the atmosphere is too toxic!"
"Hey, should we actually talk about doing something?"
"How can we do that when we lack so much DEFINITION?"
And so it goes on.

Yeah a clan should do fine. Thanks for the answer Estarra!
Need a Dame Edna emoticon.

The players could also make their own forums somewhere else, if they wanted to limit who could read/contribute to the discussions.

No offense taken, I find it funny.
Why do I find it funny? Because I don't think anyone who interacts with Daganev IG can honestly say that.

I know, I actually don't interact with you at all, I based it solely from reading the summit log, with the whole xenthos, shayle, yeralih, xavius and you thing. So if they would have made one any of you five I would have said the same thing about
The only thing I know about Daganev IG is that he is hard as hell to contact for GFs That is just what some people told me, how you are never around when they are and they had been waiting for either GF's or Protector or Security or something like that. Which that is nothing bad in itself, just poor timing on the people who need them's part
Ok, yea I really didn't know how hard it was to do the whole monk development part of these forums, I had no clue it was really that hard to do. I guess it is true that we learn something new everyday. Welp clans it will have to be for them, or just a regular thread with input from anyone.
@sheia One problem I see with a clan is simply that would it not end up like the Shadow Court? (ie. Where it has the potential to become exclusive to a select few without others being allowed to be in it or to give input?)
Okin2007-09-05 05:21:19
I think having a channel would be useful not because we need more discussion about what needs to be done, but a way of making it happen. This kind of turn-around will require a coordinated OOC effort on the behalf of the players to make Glom work. A channel would provide a means for people to speak to other players, whom they may not ever have spoken to before, OOC. I, for one, know I'm not particularly comfortable TELLing random people ((So, let's do something about Glomdoring)), particularly because we don't really have an IC way to acknowledge the 'peril' the forest is in.
Unknown2007-09-05 06:36:50
It looks like Glomdoring have at least a clan for the purpose - CLANHELP SHADOWFADE. I'm guessing all you have to do is ask the people involved to let you in.
I hope it helps get things moving!

What about making another usergroup for Glomdoring people, and making the board accessible only to divines and that usergroup? I don't have a huge amount of experience with IPB, but I think forums can be restricted like that. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Shiri2007-09-05 10:16:35
She probably meant it's a pain to filter the forum profiles and check for Glooms and add them to it, etc.

Even if the heads of Glomdoring submit a list?
Shiri2007-09-05 10:23:35
I think the heads of Glomdoring are the last people needed to submit a list for a forum which is supposed to help the problem of elitism in the Commune.
Unknown2007-09-06 03:05:47
Yeah a clan would probley also have problems. The outside forum is not a bad idea really.
Oh well I do hope everything works out well in the end.

Honestly Sheia just using this thread or something similar would be fine, I don't think Nejii would be really against checking it every so often to make sure it isn't turning into a flame thread.
Any thread to work you all through this would be better than nothing I think.
