make that parriable all it was was a few punches which i could easily swing my sword around to block..
Unknown2007-09-05 23:32:09
i dont know why it looks so bad but you can see 100 parry head

yet still taking head wounds why?
Furien2007-09-06 00:09:46
Kata moves like punches and kicks can only be stanced, not parried.

Ooh, I was wondering how much wounds I was doing.
Unknown2007-09-06 01:49:37
why?
Creslin2007-09-06 02:36:57
I've never used a weapon (or my hands, I suppose) before on an alt? o.O It's interesting.
Unknown2007-09-06 03:48:12
... wtf?

more to the point make that parriable!!!
Ildaudid2007-09-06 04:13:11
learn2stance.com

punches and kicks dont get parried simply cuz they are punches and kicks, you can parry the shofa and the staff attacks, compensate your stancing for punches and kicks, stance head on a monk will keep you pretty safe from concussions.

Since monk wounding is so minor like 80-100 or so, there isnt a major need for parrying also
Unknown2007-09-06 04:25:44
cant stance head because i didnt pay for god mode sorry. and why wouldn't i beable to parry a punch?
Shiri2007-09-06 04:37:19
Get stance head.
Drathys2007-09-06 04:40:28
Yep. Let's nerf a whole archetype because it doesn't work exactly like the others.
Unknown2007-09-06 04:41:24
i shouldn't have to get a whole new skill for something parry should do itself..
Unknown2007-09-06 04:44:53
Tbh, you'll -need- 'god mode' to really compete against warriors. I assume in the end the same is true for monks (parry + stance, maybe resilience). There's also many other skills that turn out to be necessary of one kind or another against many other classes.

As for punches / kicks, they cannot be parried as they are melee attacks. For balance reasons, I'd say it's also that way as you, on average, should be able to do less afflictions that way (cannot use poisons). I say should as I personally prefer punches / kicks over shofangi.....................
Drathys2007-09-06 04:51:20
By your logic, I shouldn't have to get a new skill to be able to see through illusory terrain to break a mage demesne. Just one example, but I could go on...

Also, by the same logic, why have stance at all, if parry "should do it itself"?

Why not scrap the skill system and give everyone everything?
Unknown2007-09-06 04:56:50
... wtf? please dont try to stuff words down my throat. you should be able to parry a melee attack as thats what parry is using your weapon to parry an attack? they already pass though rebounding why do they need more than that? and Drathys i dont get your connection to all that stuff you said.
by my logic i shouldnt -need- stance when parry should do it itself i should be able to stance something else. while parry takes care of something
thats one of the best advantages of warriors being taken away completly were everyone can parry one limb we can parry two. but because a punch apparently what Shadow said isn't a melee attack ...what? i cant parry it thats stupid.
Shiri2007-09-06 04:58:51
You can parry shofa/tahto attacks. It's fine.
Drathys2007-09-06 05:36:54
Because parry blocks weapon attacks. Punches and kicks are unarmed attacks.

The connection to what I said is it's just a fact of life when playing Lusternia that you need certain skills.
Murphy2007-09-06 06:34:44
quit yer bitchin. It's fine, monks do bugger all wounding to begin with, and if you knew how katas worked you'd realise that it's necessary..

BTW this isn't achaea, monks aren't identical.

EDIT: the game is balanced at everything transed. That's the point of buying credits, to make your character better. Either pay up, or spend the time in game to grind up the gold for credits. You will need trans combat to fight a melee class effectivley, or you're going to have a really bad day
