Yes, you may just have a serious problem

Is it possible to kill someoen with just punches and kicks or do you need the shofa and tahto?
Shiri2007-09-06 15:27:40
Right now, it's ONLY possible to kill people with punches and kicks (for shofangi at least) but that will likely be reversed as soon as possible.
Daganev2007-09-06 16:13:08
Yeah... thats a problem sad.gif

Need a new skill in combat called "Block" then, which acts like parry but for punches and kicks.

lame.. they already get parry...

1. Learn to stance. Do not ask things to be nerfed because you do not have the skills to deal with it. Get used to this sort of answer, because you will hear it a lot if you try to fight a ton and do not learn enough.

2. A single monk punching and kicking on his own will not be able to kill any competent person. The only modifiers that affect the target are break, stun, pinchnerve, and concussion. You also don't get any poisons. Really, it doesn't accomplish a ton on its own.

3. Learn to evoke pentagram/invoke circle/point web enchant/something else to slow them down. Monks cannot strip shields with punches and kicks.

4. Study skills a bit before you complain about them. Punches and kicks are fine as-is.

I'm not sure how that is relevant. Does parry actually prevent the stripping of a shield?

The only ways a monk has of stripping a shield are with shofa or using nullify/void. So, if he parries a body part the shofa won't hurt that body part, and if he shields the punches/kicks won't hurt him at all, so that body part is immune for at least one round until the monk can skive then punch again. I was simply pointing out that while punches and kicks DO pass parry, they do not pass shield. Shofa attacks are the opposite (if set up to skive).

You can parry a skive!?

1. First dont tell me what i should or should not ask about, please.

2. if i think something should be "nerfed" i will post it because its something i think.

3. i didnt lose the fight, so your fun little suggestions are pointless.

4. if i see a super quick katana comming at my head i can parry it but if somones punching me im just going to be like oh here ill even take my helmet off for ya.
Unknown2007-09-06 18:48:20
Well, there's your problem right there! Keep your helmet on, and you'll be just fine. pound.gif

No, the person will skive your shield, but won't actually do any damage because you'll parry the attack. It will strip your shield, then do nothing.

Okay then, feel free to post, but don't expect sympathy and agreement. I am telling you that you are wasting your time, the vast majority of the basin agrees that these skills are fine. This forum is meant for feedback - don't post suggestions, then get defensive and argumentative when your ideas are shot down. My suggestions are explaining to you why the skills are fine as-is. You can keep arguing realism all you want, but when it comes down to it balance > realism, and the skills are balanced.

There's not really much point in either of us arguing this much further, since I don't think you're convincing anyone that punches and kicks should be parry-able. If they are blocked by parry, then they should be able to go through magic shields - there's no reason to make them blockable by both.
