But why would you specifically stay level 98, instead of 99?
At 98 an aslaran's stats wont change, but don't you get a boost in stats at 99 or is that only at level 100 (I don't remember now.) So you could get the max amt of level increased health without the stat increases is what I meant.
Same with a shadowlord faeling or anything else (besides human) since only humans get stat boosts throughout 50-95.

Why would you not want stat increases? The only issue is the increase itself is less effective in terms of damage than before.

From what Forren has tested or said, well if I understood correctly (which I could be wrong), 18 int is only 8% more damage than 12 int. The rewards of 6 stat points seem to be so minimal (meaning being high int races or gaining stat boosts from becoming titan/demigod), that the disadvantages seem to outweigh the advatanges right now.
Now this is just from what Forren said he tested... with the damage difference.
So if that is the same thing for wounds and damage based on 18 str and 12 str (which I am not sure of at all) then again, low end would seem to be better, combined with possibly high con and speed bonuses for a warrior. Now again, this would be solely if wounds and damage is only an 8% difference between 18str and 12 str.
Again, if I misunderstood Forren, then my whole theory is wrong, as usual >.>

18 intelligence is 16% more damage than 14 intelligence. The wrong formula was used, and the numbers used are different from what you are stating above.

Ahh ok, yeah I knew I had something wrong, but I thought it was an 8% difference. Ok that is more worth it.
@Forren, the pain it seems to be to remain demigod would, to me personally, make it seem more of a boon if it was only an 8% difference in "damage", to not be hunted for being a demingod and to end up at 99 and 50% if you are hunted enough to die, to make it not really worth the miniscule benefits. But 16% is different and more worth it, along with the other little perks.
Shiri2007-09-15 00:45:21
There is no penalty to being a titan, so there's no reason to stay level 98.
And I think the risk/reward ratio of demigod is safely in favour of reward now.

Yes, Demigod risk is virtually nonexistent. There's only one realistic way to lose it now. Right, Forren?

Does that mean, being greifed by the grieferfish is the one realistic way to lose it now ^^??
Shryke2007-09-15 03:18:56
No, getting avengered.

It involves typing heartstop, falling asleep, and the weight of a human head on the enter key.

With each change I cringe even more. When the envoys were approached, we expressed the need for some control at the extreme levels (Thoros bashing 20 guards, taking 50 damage from linked mobs, Acrune doing 3k damage..). These changes have been wide-reaching. Everything is a bit too.. similar now. How much more shall we normalize?
Shryke2007-09-15 03:42:06
I'm pretty disappointed, it seems like admin take good ideas too far, too often. :/ I mean, it's a good gesture to try, but please just listen to us! We know what's needed
Estarra2007-09-15 04:03:48
I asked dozens of time for the envoys to help test these changes and those that did help gave positive feedback, so I think it's pretty unfair to accuse us of not listening.

I think a clear definition of 'us' and 'we' might be useful too. Most of the time, it seems to me that the 'we' ends up being a hundred-headed hydra, arguing itself to death. We make do with what we can. And we do listen, far more than many suspect. But one can't please all.
Unknown2007-09-15 04:20:35
Is there a point when the envoy process becomes just too much? E.g Don't fix it if it ain't broken? Never have I played a game where so many radical changes occur so often.
Ildaudid2007-09-15 04:33:02
Shryke berate your envoy for not expressing your feedback to them, slap Malarious around a bit!!! He is too worried about getting nihilists a 4th or 5th instakill
time for a
And yes Malarious before you flip out, realize I am teasing you. (about the instakill thing) But, if you weren't helping them out, Shryke will most likely be hollering in your ear, since you are his new Envoy (Ethelon lucked out with Shryke leaving the Ur'Guard hehe).
@Balizar, nah this was the first radical change (the whole DMP thing) in a long time, the last radical one, truely radical one was weighted stats and buffs. They are just doing tweaking. Not a continous onslaught of radical changes, these are all tweaks to the DMP setup basically. Which are to be expected until they get it to their liking.
And if people want to blame anyone solely for this. Murphy has told me it was all his idea to begin with, and that it was a much needed change. He, if I remembered properly used something like... "Let the tears rain down upon him, they will only nourish him further. The change was long needed, now it just needs some tweaking." or something to that effect. Trust me, when he sees this he will tell you all the same thing, this part isn't something I made up.

Okay, sorry admin for sounding overly accusatory, but I find this frustrating...
People asked for small curves to knock the damage of a few players, who just managed to stack too many buffs, and were doing either way too much damage, or taking way too low.
So, that would be, Acrune doing way too much damage for one, or, Thoros taking like.. none, from mobs.
Solution? Diminish the bonuses that made THEM insane... What I'm saying is, why change everything with one huge revamp, (which puts huge pressure, and a large workload on the administration) instead of looking at the people who managed to get out of the realm of balance, and deny them what they had, that put them there.
Well, I don't think I clarified my position much. But I'll just say, it seems that all too often, the administration makes a huge change, when a small one is needed.
Considering the damage is done, and there's no way we're going back, I'll ask a few questions.
Why were low int/str/dex people buffed up? (This wasn't asked for at all, just something you guys apparently put in there for no reason (one of my beefs with the changes)) This only serves to lessen the difference between high and low ints, which has brought up the problem of con being the most important stat. (Of course, now that it's been implemented, it wont be removed, even if it's not necessary at all, instead, the admin will re-write every single line of code to make it all balanced)
Did the admin think that completely redoing resistances was necessary? Why? And how did they think that killing off resistances would make the game better, or more balanced?
I just hope I conveyed the sense of frivolous, or uncalled for (by players) changes that I'm seeing, which I think have had a negative effect on the game, and will only cause more delays and work for the administration.
I wish you could ask the players about this kind of thing, before implementing it, I'm sure they'd be able to point out a few drawbacks.. At least let some people test it on the test server, without committing to code it into the actual server.

Perhaps you could ask your envoys how many times the administration has personally asked them about the changes that have been made, or the many times time was provided on the test server to test this code, as well as other code, before assuming that such had not been done.
Ymbryne2007-09-15 06:16:31
Since the Divine are actively reading this thread tonight, any word on giving out a free reincarnation (assuming these are the last of the tweaks) so those of us may adapt to this new CON-emphasis change?
Acrune2007-09-15 06:29:18
I wouldn't assume that the tweaks are done.
Shryke2007-09-15 06:30:12
Okay, one question, why aren't you removing the low end stat boost?
It's uncalled for.
