Banks and our money

So I've been playing Lusternia for a bit now...I think it's well better than any of the other IRE games and I think a really interesting addition would be that if you put money in a bank that the bank would pay you interest or whatever the term is. Eg, I place 10000 gold in the bank and say the rate is...3%/year (maybe RL or IG year the admins decide) in a year I get 10300 gold back. Expanding on that idea (if it's good of course) maybe the leader of a city/commune could adjust the rate but it would cost a LOT of power. If you've got something good to say or maybe some constructive criticism well go ahead...and if you don't well...don't.
PS: Before anyone starts saying it's abusable with large amounts of money, anything can be abusable if you use it well biggrin.gif

Banks are more of a service, really. Prevents you from getting robbed (not that it really happens much anyway)

Anyway, this idea has been brought up a lot. Everyone wants free money, but doubt it'll ever happen.

Oh sorry, I'm new to this forum.

We don't even need free money. We'd like to not be charged for taking out money.

Manse + chest + lock + key = bank you can use for free!

@ Aison: Oftentimes the chest is more expensive than the gold you'd be working with. Plus, what if you don't have somewhere to store the gold? (I'll just stuff it in my GA office. Doubt anyone would notice...)

At the general idea, would be nice, but improbable that it would occur.

Well. If you have enough gold to put in the bank... never mind, depends on the situation!

Perhaps instead of a hideous 2% fee, there was a flat fee. 150 gold to withdraw from your back. That's it. No deposit fees, no account keeping fees, but you take money out, 150 gold per transaction.

i find preserved letters better in holding money as long as you have selfishness up smile.gif

Chests aren't that expensive. I have a chest design that you can get for 10,000gp with lock, and they last for many many years. Now, the manse room, that might be the hard part. (I've often wondered why city/commune/guild/etc.-owned manses/aetherships aren't used for things like this, though. You could have a storage room (maybe even an aetherhold room) full up with chests serving like the lockers in the bus station.)

ACTUALLY!!!

He brings up a new idea that has not been adressed before.

Normally, they say that interest is tied to loans, and what are the banks using loans for?

Perhaps a bank can invest money into dross power. The more money the bank has in it, the more dross power the citizens can draw.

Say, for every 10 million gold, or for every million gold, citizens can draw one more percentage of dross power!!!

I kinda like that solution.

Or perhaps investments in the villages--more gold deposited, get better power income with a religious government, better commodity income with a commercial government, or better village feelings with a conquest government.

If I'm understanding how it works, every ten million gold -each- citizen of the city/commune could draw one extra power? (Since not all of us have a million gold, let alone 100k)

And I'm not getting where the conversion between money and power would be made...

The bankers get excited from all the money and go to the pool and dance, filling it up with essence. Kind of like the game Black & White. Now all Celest needs is a giant cow to run to Magnagora and eat all the villagers. dribble.gif

Thats it. Every 10 million gold, we get more dross power, and every 100 million gold we get a giant cow to steal power from Mag. To the envoy wiki! content.gif
