Mindlinks are positively fun. However, that's practically all they're useful for. HiveMind increases max ego by around 250-300 for every member in the mindlink. However, finding more than two Telepaths to mindlink these days (in Mag) is nigh impossible.
So it got me thinking. HiveMind should really do more. So I thought of this: mindlinked people who also have HiveMind, should get an 0.5 second channel eq recovery bonus for every member of the mindlink who has HiveMind. But in such a way that one HM member gives everyone 0.5 sec bonus, another 0.3, another 0.2, and another 0.1. Either stop at that, or keep the bonus for further HM members at 0.1, so the bonus simply can't get much larger than 1 second.
The RP of this is obvious - sharing your mind with people like that should obviously make you faster and more focused, while sharing it with too many people makes you divide your attention a lot, which just can't give the same bonus.
I'm under the impression that this would be really messy to code, though.

The tounge scares me and yea, kephera need nerfing not buffing, 200-300 per person is sick as is, imagine if you actually had 10 kephera in mag to hivemind to. that would be a 2000-3000 hp boost. Now, imagine you went on a village revolt with 10 fellow kephera, and hiveminded. You all would be scary with your lvl3 cutting/blunt resistance and now an added 2000-3000 hp's to deal with.
Hivemind is good as is. Problem is you are in a city that love illithoids not kephera so you wont see as many there. But beware the seren zerg of hiveminded kepheran monks!!!! BEWAREE!!!!!!!

There are barely any Kephera even in Serenwilde. I think I managed to get 2 others on a raid once. Another one stayed at Mother.

I have never joined a hivemind since I became kephera. There really aren't enough around yet to ever use it.
Also, kephera may have already been nerfed, or it might be a bug. Supposedly armor and racial resistances were taken out of the buff weighting system, but even so I can barely take on one illithoid now, where I could easily tank 2-3 before the change. That's as kephera with 68/70 splendour robes, which should be incredibly tanky. I'm pretty sure the monk defenses alone weren't enough to make up the difference, so either kephera have already been somewhat nerfed, or there's something still fishy about the formula.

He mentioned both. My understanding was that he was suggesting that all kephera (who could hivemind) should get an extra bonus when they mindlink.

Nah that had to be a bug, armor and racial resistances are not part of the DMP thing now, so without them being in the DMP's the kephera are back to same ol normality as they were before the DMP weighting. It would have made you be able to tank more, not tank less when they were removed from the DMP weighting. Of course they may have done a ninja nerf to kephera alone. But if they did, they should announce it. Since we will still lobby for kepheran nerfing until we are told they are nerfed!!!

Erm... Yeah, I meant Telepathy's HiveMind. Sorry for not specifying. As a quick reminder: Telepathy's HiveMind - 250-300 ego boost for each member in the mindlink. My suggestion is that people with HiveMind also get a 0.5 (.3, .2, .1...) second bonus to their channel equilibrium for each mindlinked member -who has HiveMind- (as as to avoid people mindlinking a bunch of new Telepaths just for the bonus), as described in the first post.

I am not sure about the balance thingy, since that could end up waay OP if you actually get alot of mage/telepath (which is 90% of the mage community) linked up. Can you imagine .3 second balances on psi .5 second balances on sub and .75 second balances on super? Wow that would bring back the whole mage death squads. (Before they joined forces and used boulderblast and that hailstorm thing to wipe people out with one hit, now they would just use psi skills >.>)

Yeah, this could get strong, if you got enough people to gain even a half second on all your channels, it would be a huge boost to telepaths.

Although I'm actually against increasing speed on Psi channels (as much as I love psionics to death) I want to address Ildaudid first.
Going with the proposed scheme the first two people in a HiveMind (me and my buddy A) gives me a .5 speed increase. B, C , and D give a 1.1 second increase (.5+.3+.2+.1) putting the 4 second sub channel down to 2.9 seconds. After that, each addition telepath is only +.1 which means it'll take 24 additional telepaths (4-1.1=2.9
2.9-.5=2.4
2.4/.1=24) for a grand total of 28 telepathic mages to get a .5 sub balance. At that point you could literally newbie kick people to death.
That being said, even if each person in a Hivemind was a flat .1 second increase, I just don't think telepathy needs it. I think the skillset as a whole does fairly well. Adding more function/utility to the specific skill is fine, but even if you got this it would do really nasty things to the rest of your skills to compensate.
As a side note, is Hivemind restricted to just local area, or is it same-continent?

Yeah I couldn't remember the actual balance times on psi sub and super, so I figured it would take quite a bit to get to .75 on super. Though even the chance of it being a possibility is skeeeeery!!!
edit - I don't remember how hivemind used to be, but I remember revan asking reiha to mindlink as soon as she would log in, even though reiha and I were heading to astral. She would link up with him, then roll out with me up to astral. So it could be that it worked anywhere as long as you were linked? I dunno.
