I’m basically returning to the game after an extended absence, I have missed a lot it seems, new monk guilds and two new races, I can catch up on the majority of the details in the game. I am considering changing class as well as its always a good way to keep yourself interested doing new things and such. Most likely I wouldn’t want to leave Glomdoring, it’s a comfortable place with interesting people or was when I left, although my character could possibly be tempted by the paladins.
When I left the bard classes were quite poor and the guilds were just starting so it was hard to say how they shape up now?
The Blacktalon appear to be a very good guild and the class seems solidly balanced but there was some complaint about the liner aspects of their class which made combat boring in the long run?
The warrior guilds, either Paladins or Ebonguard both were well established decent guilds and the warrior class was respectably balanced as well, I’m mainly interested in how they stand now and there was the worry that there is to much of a gap between runed and non runed warriors?
There’s always an option of awaiting the new monk guilds to come out, only serenwilde has theirs so far right?
And for the last question how are the various commune and cities politics working on the two new races?

Bards are good now. Celest also has monks. Magnagora allows both races, Celest and Seren ban ithilloid, I forget if Glom bans Kephera or not, but I doubt it.

You might want to leave Glomdoring now...I'd check things out for yourself. And it's great to see you back.

No leaving Glomdoring! And I miss Shayle

Bards are a solid class now.
Druids are still a very linear, boring class (combat-wise, of course).
Warriors are a fine class, with the general opinion being Bonecrushers > Pureblades > Blademasters/Axelords. Artifact Runes make a noticeable difference, though Serenguard/Ebonguard have the advantage with weaponaura.
Serenwilde and Celest both have their monk guilds, Magnagora/Glomdoring monks are still in development.
Celest/Seren ban Illithoids, Magnagora allows both, and Glomdoring has some minor restrictions for Kephera.

Welcome back! A few things have changed, but you can figure it out again.

Bards are very nice now. Glamours made all the difference in the world - check it out on the wiki (www.avaerin.com/scryingpool). There have been a few other tweaks which make bard a very nice choice now.QUOTE

I don't know about the guild itself. Druid bashing is pretty bad, but their demesnes make them powerful fighters. They are pretty linear, though, basically using the same general tactics to go for sap every time. If you want power without tons of confusing options, druids are good, but they do not allow for a ton of creative strategy.

Serenwilde and Celest both have monks now. I believe Magnagora will get theirs next, then Glomdoring, but it might also go int he opposite order depending on how things work out, I have no idea. Monks are very good bashers, and they allow for a lot of strategy and creativity in combat. They're still getting ironed-out, though, so they are somewhat lacking in synergy and there aren't a lot of experienced strategists to learn from.

Kephera are respected in Seren/Celest, Illithoids are respected in Mag/Glom. I think Glom and Mag technically allow both, Celest and Seren ban illithoids.

I understand that you left, under some sort of a cloud or not is just rumor? Why do you personally suggest that leaving Glomdoring may be the right choice?
I’m not going to hold any grudge against anyone the answers so far have been helpful.

Glomdoring is changing. The reasons you cited for staying may not be true anymore. Like I said, I'd check it out for yourself. It might be just what you want. I just wouldn't make any assumptions based on before.
Shayle hasn't left Glomdoring, but I'm spending more time enjoying my real life and less time worrying about the game, so you won't see me as much!

So how are the warrior guilds, viable with normal weapons or do runes become needed to fight the top tiers?
Is there any eta on the arrival of the other monk guilds?

Arti runes are a must to take out the top-tier fighters. Nightkiss/Drawdown and Forging runes do help a fair bit, though.
Magnagora will be getting their monks in two months or so (random estimate). No idea regarding Glomdoring.

Emofist (Glomdoring's monk guild) will most probably be released after the commune is "fixed".

Bards (with illusions) are brutal. They can pump out more afflictions than a mugwump hexen Nihilist, and have a pretty good offence - even the non cantor and non emokid one. Warriors recently got a bit of a buff in that people like Clise can't one shot anyone anymore and that everyone else has started doing reasonable damage again. Guardians haven't really changed. Monks have bags full of nasty tricks; try the Tahtetso.

Well. Glomdoring is changing. I think in the long run, the org will be fine. It could use some loyalist people to help set it in the right direction. I suggest staying. However, to give you perspective on classes
You are not as tanky as a Wiccan anymore. Your tankiness as a Furrikin SD is scant to what it used to be. Just to note..
If you want to stay SD, they're still a solid class because of lolchoke. 90% of their offense is passive, so it's a good class even without the tankiness.
Guardians are relatively tanky. Celestines are still easier to fight with and learn than Nihilists. Though are both are respectably good in their own way.
Bards are really good now due to Glamours. Cantors are the best still, though Harbingers have potential with Kaervas's changes. I can think of some very nasty stuff with their skills. Spiritsingers are the weakest of the Bards right now, sadly.
The opinion on warriors are varied. Commune warriors definitely have an edge over city warriors due to Drawdown/Nightkiss, and ur'Guard have better use of Necromancy than a Paladin with Sacraments. Depends on the person, really. Bonecrusher is hands-down the best spec right now, and quite possibly the best to take if you're not going to invest in artie runes. For the others, however, you will need runes to take out anyone remotely high-tier. The Ebonguard are a good guild too, I enjoyed the RP and they're close-knit and you already know that Night is a solid skill. If you don't like the thought of BC as a Ebonguard w/Night.. PB also does pretty good and Lisarel/Sintor used Axelord to good effect.
Celest has their Tahtetso monks, but I think monks are a little broken at the moment. I don't suggest changing to the class until they've released all the guilds and fixed any quirks they may have. Seren has the Shofangi, but eh.. Tahtetso is definitely better than Shofangi.
Hope this helps, and welcome back.
