Well, I remember that I was influenced back in the day, when I was just a young aquamancer.
Forren. I was still wild (more than now) I made stupid comments, and never knew when to shut up. But, Forren would always try to keep me in line, respectfully, even if he was mean sometimes. What influenced me the most, I was insulted and called stupid by another member of the guild, and he defended me...it had an impact on me that basically shaped Doman into what he is now.
Thanks Forren, for the kick in the ass.
Who has influenced you and your character the most?

Amaru. Before he went off the deep end. Heh.
Shiri2007-10-03 05:06:37
Hmm...Gwylifar.

I've probably mentioned it before somewhere or other...
Shayle. The reason I stuck with Synl.
She sort of forces little people into involvement with the guild/commune, and you just can't help having fun. Easily the best RPer I have met; those little 'talks' on how to behave as a student of Night were key in shaping Synl as a character.

As a novice, I don't really remember. So many people in the Serenguard - pretty much everyone there contributed a little.
Doman2007-10-03 05:08:21
C'mon people, dun be vague, what made them an influence?
Xavius2007-10-03 05:11:03
The first weeks of open beta were a PK grief fest. Mutually so. We had so much fun attacking each other mercilessly, before people started to take death and combat so seriously and personally. Amaru was my combat instructor. Not necessarily my favorite person--that would have been Lyren. (Was that her name? I forget. Bleh.) But Amaru's the one who got me on my feet.
Acrune2007-10-03 05:11:23
Probably Althana. Helped me get involved in the Aquamancers and in Celest.
Shiri2007-10-03 05:13:45
Oh, kind of Shamarah too (argh, hindsight.) I was impressed by the stupid invisible miner-raids he took us on in Angkrag, where no one had any skills and thirdeye was so high up no one could so much as see us. Awesome strategy!
Ixion2007-10-03 05:15:54
Fain controlled Captain Avarath. I loved the early Fain so much.
Shishi2007-10-03 05:16:21
Xenthos is the one who influenced Shishi the most he is the reason I stuck lusternia and play at all. I had started playing and got bored, and decided to give it another go about a month or so later. I really had nothing to do but... hunt, so I started looking for stuff in guild and undersecretary seemed like something to do. Xenthos was still the administrator at the time so I talked to him about it. He helped me learn how to teach and give tests, and answered all the questions I didn't ask the month previous when I was confused, and I had a lot of questions for a long time. Wouldn't be here today if it hadn't been for Xenthos. He's the reason I figured out I liked teaching novices and gave me most of the info on how to do it.

Alger. And Daevos, some. They're both great guys and now even Daevos (of all people!) is inactive.

I would have to say Raiha, if not for her I never would have even heard of the IRE games. Although now she gets a bit aggravated that I play so much.
In Imperian I had more of the 'idol' type person that kept me playing. They strongly encourage the mentor system there, so both of the two alts I made ended up with a mentor, both of which were awesome. Sort of makes me sad I havn't played there in so long.

Urazial.
The first thing I ever saw when I stepped into Glomdoring from portals was the ritual to raise crow. All the baby-killing, dancing skeleton, creepy dead trees of it.
Urazial's the one who took me aside andbrainwashed told me about Glomdoring's beliefs. Haven't wanted to leave since.

As a novice during open beta it was probably Nikua who had the biggest influence on me and helped me get started. He taught me a lot about the way Lusternia worked and help propel me into Serenwilde life.
However, overall the biggest influences that have helped keep me coming back are Nejii and Dylara. Dy is just plain awesome and is always there. She's one of the best friends I could have hoped for. When it comes to politics and associated things Nejii would have to be my idol. He was, at least in my opinion, the best leader Seren has had (and I've been there for all of them I believe. At least 90%). He was really my inspiration that got me started in really working for Seren and getting involved in the political scene there, and those influences still affect me in Mag. He's also very supportive and plays an awesome father, perfectly balancing out Ama's craziness.

Another person that really had an effect on me, back in Seren, was Malicia, yeah yeah, I know, I'm just dropping big Celest names, but seriously, back when I was THE uber n00blet of Seren, Malicia was like a pinnacle of what you could be in Lusternia. I never really followed in her footsteps, but she was some motivation.
Furien2007-10-03 05:58:19
Yini. Taught me to be a guild Champion in two different guilds, and I generally inherited her position each time. Taught me so much, inside and out of combat. I miss her a lot.
Arundor2007-10-03 06:23:02
In my case, Everiine.
I haven't been active enough recently to know what he's up to these days, but back when I started playing he was a great Serenguard undersecretary.

Valek and Daevos for me. Valek cause he was an utter nutbag, scary and he kicked ass loudly and proudly.
Daevos cause he still kicked ass, and I spent a lot of time with him on raids etc.

Daevos and Kaervas were my idols back when I started playing in open beta. Daevos was an awesome leader, taking us on many a Supernal killing-spree and always getting Magnagora involved. Kaervas was (and still is) an amazing combatant who got me interested in combat and I sucked (well, I still suck, but moreso then) a ton but I did taint Terentia's fulcrux a lot and end up getting killed a lot. It was still fun.
