Stangmar pointed it out to me, but has anyone noticed new difference in Magnagora descriptions? The gas lamps are very surprising and the new background sound things make more sense, unless I've been under a rock and not noticed them before, but it seems like a aesthetic (sp?) direction change for Mag. I really like it anyway, but has anyone else seen anything? I think it looks more indutrial revolution England, but that's just me.

Yep! Steampunk! I've already raved about this, but it's..just... so... awesome! Cogs and gears and steam engines, oh my. The thingies in Nosfydra already do stuff like blowing steam around, and they're all geared and mechanical. I think it really fits, and I hope it encourages more scientific- and engineering-type RP. I don't know if OTHER people like it, but... what is Mag doing turning into exactly the type of setting I love?!
Murphy2007-10-04 17:04:53
i like it too, very much.
Now just give me a steampunk deathray that i can point at certain forests and oceans to incinerate/evaporate and all will be good.

Agreed. More power to Morg (and any other gods who helped him out) for all these changes. I've always enjoyed Magnagora's feel and it's really nice that these additions give it the sense that the Taint is slowly changing the city from the high-fantasyish style that seems more evident in pre-Taint Mag and Old/New Celest and bringing it into an evil industrial metropolis.
EDIT: Another nice addition are the new area messages (or whatever you want to call them). Although I barely ever see the old ones anymore (since they go off so much less often than the new ones) they're very nice. I especially like the musical ones. Makes me think of elitist nobility and the Cacophony at the same time.
EDIT2: Sorry, I'll be quiet after this. I just wanted to also add that I LOVE Lain's responses. I'm not sure why the lamp lighter is such a philosopher, but I love it all the same.

Lain is great. His philosophic rambling are vaguely familiar. Is he based on a historical or literary character?
Unknown2007-10-04 18:28:48
Ahem. Lain is a she. Am I the only one who probed her?
Revan2007-10-04 18:40:48
I've probed her....

I LOVE them. I'm really excited about it and can't wait to get the changes more reflected in the roleplay as well. IMO (partially based on the few hours/days I've spent on alts in the other orgs over the years) Magnagora is one of the most unique and rich environments to play in at the moment because we really have had this sense of evolution and change in the past few months.
Myndaen2007-10-04 19:06:23
I've always loved, LOVED the steampunk aspect of Magnagora and I never thought it was played up enough. The ENGINE of transformation can be more than just a metaphorical meaning, and I think it should be.
Next up. Magitek plz.

Uh huh. Steampunk/low-tech for the win. I wish Lusternia focused more on that theme.

Meh, sorry, it just seemed like people kept saying 'he' on CT regarding Lain earlier.

I like them a lot.

Arix is allergic to myrrh, and sneezes when that message comes up

I clicked the link to "new post in this thread," sneezed, and then read your message.
I appear to be allergic to you saying "sneeze."

Seems more and more are popping up, I'm a huge fan of it, and i really hope magnagoran rp changes along with it, we are the engine of transformation so RP can change too
Linaeve2007-10-05 12:29:52
It's absolutely wonderful. The first taste I had of Magnagora and its sophisticated evil is what kept me hooked - along with Mire's mad scientist, progressive sort of RP, and now our setting is beginning to reflect the Victorian-esque, gaslight romance sort of era even more.
There's nothing as exciting as the imagery all the new stuff evokes and where it's going to inspire people's RP now. I picture the lamps creating halos of smoky, hazy light, mingled with fog and damp rain, and making the dark shadows even darker at night. All sorts of ideas of what happens in the darker corners of the streets come to mind, and make me think of Jack the Ripper, etc.
*contentsigh*
Thank you, Morgfyre, and/or everyone who's been making this happen for us!

I'd really like to see an event happen that would change the demons to get a bit of a mechanical edge. Its too bad they disallow the customization of summoned loyals here, so you can't even do it yourself.
Lysandus2007-10-05 13:12:39
the ambiance in New Celest is also showing, like humming birds buzzing in the air, rituals coming from the Celestine Seminary, etc. Wonder what's left to discover...
