BTW, just so everyone else doesn't think we're upgrading Magnagora for free or because we're bored. Magnagora did pay for this cool lighting system (designed thanks to their cool patron!). Don't know if they want to reveal how much they spent on it--I will say that it wasn't cheap!
I do like seeing cities and communes paying for and upgrading themselves with things like the cathedral, hotel, streetlights, etc. As has been seen, big creations and investments have unexpected rewards--i.e., permanent quests!

Then, I formally propose Celest starts doing the same...time for the Celest Beautification project!
Furien2007-10-06 03:57:38
Street lights, cathedrals, parks, hotels?
Heh, not sure how much communes can do along those lines (Though I realize that's up to the creativity of the commune's population as a whole). Guess Seren is stuck paying 5 million for a Snuggle Grove!

Eeeenteresting.. I would love to see expansions to the Deep Blue Cathedral. I wonder where to get started with that.
Jigan2007-10-06 04:22:17
Special globes which contain hives of glow flies of some sort, glowing sap, or deer with the ability to light paths (from the eyes, of course).
All you have to do is think "What do we need, how do we get it?" Lights? Various insects light up. Plumbing? Moles can help you there. So, for the communes it's more: "What do we need, now what can be naturally or resonably obtained to replicate it?"

Come up with the idea and talk to your patron!

hmm...
-Globes filled with bright light
-Add some sermoning rooms to the cathredral
-NPCs around the city and in the post office/bank
-Maybe a few more animals
-I want a zoo, but Mag has one...
-A lot more "Coastal" themes
...a man can dream...
Edit: and a real tavern, with an NPC that sells alcohol. Communion wine

Like doors, it'd be neat if we could bust the lamps, catching whoever broke it on fire
Lanath2007-10-08 10:43:02
I've been loving the lamps and the new atmosphere lines, but I gotta say, the "burning ozone" atmosphere line is my favorite. It's very Magnagora, and made me smile when I saw it.

Hotel? We need an eerie hotel. With a cool absinthe bar.
And a central square sort of park, with courtyards. And, as a matter of fact, this is where our stables could go!
*daydream*

That sounds amazing for Mag.
I'd love to see a denizen placed at the bar in Celest. A place for people to drown their woes properly. Selling some wine of sorts. I'd write it up myself if I could .
I love the hummingbird lines. My favorite is when it's dark and you're in a shop and it describes how the light reflecting off the hummingbirds lightens up the store front a bit. That really made me smile.
Not so crazy about the guild ones. The blacksmith one would make sense if we had a forge in Celest... but the chanting from the celestine hall kinda freaked me out the first time I saw it.
I also love the one which describes how the sun reflects on the stained glass windows in the Cathedral whenever the sun rises. It's my favorite because in my last bardic entry, I was writing about how it would look in the morning if anyone were to just sit and watch (especially since the view is fantastic from the Celestine's guildhall). It feels awesome imagining that that description could have possibly come from a scene I described
edit: found the line:
Sunlight reflects off the stained glass windows of the Deep Blue Cathedral, shining in the distance.
(only I removed the needless "of" because you don't need it after "off"...)
Stangmar2007-10-08 13:59:34
Celest DOES have a forge........

Personally, I'd rather have it so that cooks can give them a certain amount of shots/wine/alcohol what have you, and the mob'll pay them for it, then in turn sell them. Hehe.

Nice, though I think I'd abstain. I already steal too much of the market for other cooks in the city.
Arix2007-10-08 22:57:16
and I would so find a way to sneak in and kill that bartender
