I saw this just a few minutes ago and had to search for it to double check what I was seeing.

Sure enough: Veramyst

Check out the caption warnings! The FDA will let anything through these days, won't they? laugh.gif

Yeah! I just saw it on TV and was like, No WAY! So, I googled it and dicovered, much to my chagrin, Yes Way. shocked.gif
Shiri2007-10-08 01:29:19
That is pretty worrying. unsure.gif

Yeah, I'll ask my doctor about new veramyst. I'll ask him why it's frigging legal

I wonder what the going rate for FDA approval is these days anyway? laugh.gif

WTF?

I don't care how bad a person's allergies are, if you don't know how something works don't sell it!
Xavius2007-10-08 02:55:13
You'd be surprised at how many medicines have ambivalent actions. That has nothing to do with their approval. Just gotta prove that they work and don't do too many horrible things.

I just saw this on TV the other day too and I immediately was like, "Who the HELL would use that?!"

Unfortunately none of my friends were paying attention to the commercial so they had no idea what I was talking about.
Aoife2007-10-08 03:15:41
So glad I'm never on prescription stuff anymore!

I dunno, the list of horrible things it does is pretty hefty. laugh.gif

Yeah, I mean. Glaucoma? I don't care how bad my allergies are...

Well, I might use it if medicinal marijuana was legal...
Unknown2007-10-08 03:43:03
Hopefully it's not in Canada... I just read the side effects... back pain? wtf.gif

Well, it is in some states.

...I love that. So much. "The way Veramyst works is not fully understood."

That, and they think people will trade the possibility of things like nose fungus and BLINDNESS for allergy relief.

Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veramyst should help.

I once had a project for marketing class, where I was to make up a product and then market it with magazine ads, billboards and a tv commercial. So I did a vitamin supplement that did many very nice things, but the side effects(most of them counterproductive regarding the benefits, and others being just plain silly) took up a small pamphlet to be sold with the pills.
