I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the RP behind each of the cities and communes is suppose to be because honestly...I can't tell. All I know is that Celest is like...we are right...mass genocide of the taint and viscanti...blah blah blah. What is the RP of glom, seren, and mag suppose to be?
Unknown2007-10-27 07:38:23
Roleplay for Magnagora; We are right...mass genocide of the light and merians...blah blah blah.

I don't know if the whole city is for mass merian genocide, but Arix is

On a serious answer:
Celest seeks to return the entire Basin into the Light, like it was before Cosmic Hope.
Magnagora wants to put the entire Basin under the Taint and rule.
Not sure about the communes. From my perspective, Serenwilde is pretty content just doing its own thing, and just wants to destroy Glom, whereas Glom seems to be constantly battling the fact that Wyrd does not equal Taint and just wants to destroy Seren.

my answer WAS serious.

In my opinion:
Celest - wants to destroy the Taint (will redefinine Taint to exclude Wyrd though), it see this as a mercy on the poisoned souls of Magnagora and Viscanti and what Aison said remedying the problem Ladantine created.
Magnagora - wants to spread the Taint (although its more a case of surviving right now) and expand its empire to overcome their former protectorate status, while subduing the lesser races of furrikin, merians and elfen.
Serenwilde - wants all Basin to be all forest like it was before dominance of Holy Celestine Empire. This means they disagree with everywhere else, but negotiate with Celest and Glomdoring when it serves them.
Glomdoring - wants their wyrd to cover all the Basin and overtake the nature forest, on top of a taint complex. They are highly introverted and more aggressive about their ideals, although like Serenwilde will negotiate with anyone.
Each patron god influence beliefs of city too.

I'm pretty sure the Basin was never all forest before the Empire, and as a result Serenwilde doesn't want to replace whatever was/is there with it except maybe the cities (and Tainted forest.)
Gabranth2007-10-27 09:27:25
Ah true, was thinking Aetolian Duiran rp, which is very generic, Seren actually has an understanding of political reality.
Unknown2007-10-27 10:00:08
Well really the entire idea behind everyone except mag is to eventually clense the world of the touch of the soulless. Seren, I belive thinks that its through forests, the way to do it
Ainia2007-10-27 14:20:08
Now explain the RP around the Wyrd. Cause I have heard so many explainations of it and it still confuses me.

I think part of that is purposeful. The ambiguity allows for a certain range of interpretations and for players to fill in the blanks in ways that make sense for their characters.
In its most basic format, the Wyrd is a transforming agent. Glomdoring stands for Wyrded Nature and, generally speaking, wants to fill the entire Basin and all the planes with it, in effect making the world one, big Glomdoring. In the process, everything else will either be transformed or destroyed.

Wyrd depends on where you've from. If you're from Serenwilde or Magnagora, wyrd is taint. If you're from Celest or Glomdoring, Wyrd is the by product of removing taint.
(Well, probably Celest. We all know how alliances flicker.)

So, basically Wyrd is removing the Taint and spreading the teachings of Brother Crow and Mother Night throughout the Basin?
And, the guilds and/or people of Glomdoring can interrupt and practice those teachings as they see fit – just so long as it strengthens the belief of Brother Crow and Mother Night?

Hazar2007-10-27 15:30:55
Eh. The Wyrd isn't as concerned with removing the Taint as it is with spreading the Wyrd. The Wyrd is glory, beauty, perfection - in Veyda's words, it's 'the power to save the world'. Glomdoring is less defined by it's opponents then any of the other organizations.
EDIT: And as to the teachings of Night and Crow - they're highly ambigious and can be interpreted to mean anything. Crow has a general message of control, drive, patience, and stoicism, and Night has more a message of perfectionism.

Serenwilde doesn't want to cover everything in forest - it wishes that "the communes oversaw the healing of the Basin of Life, back to a purer time when cities didn't exist" or something like that.
Since it does NOT consider the Wyrd to be natural, it has been placed as a target on the "orgs to remove" so that the commune/s can oversee the healing of the Basin.

I always look at it picturally. Basicly on the surface, each place is represented by a child. On opposite sides, Magnagora and Celest boo at each other and call each other names and throw things, and Magnagora does the same. Glomdoring has it's fingers in it's ears going 'IM NOT LISTENING!!!!!' and Serenwilde is going 'HAHAHAHA WE PWNZ YOU ALL NOOBS' repeatedly.
In my opinion, Celest is trying to undo the mistake of releasing the Taint while being pushed by blind faith and veiled brutality.
Magnagora wants to survive and cover everything with the Taint, as they believe it is the new way for the Basin and a beneficial if destructive force of change. They also hate merians and elfen, and all of them do. RPly, they should since Lord Fain hates them.
Serenwilde are tree hugging hippy radicalists wanting to clear Glomdoring because they believe it is Tainted. It should be noted however, that they sometimes form alliances with Magnagora. So basicly, they're hypocrites.
Glomdoring just want to survive and spread the beauty of the wyrd, but not through force mostly, except Serenwilde.
That's it, I'll probably edit it later but I'm tired.
But it's pointless, since nobody gives a damn about RP anymore.

How often do these alliances change? I remember Serenwilde making an alliance with Magnagora, and Celest making an alliance with Glomdoring (I think Glomdoring was still tainted then?)
Shiri2007-10-28 00:48:50
It takes decades to change. Serenwilde has made (fairly) lasting treaties (or simply mutual non-aggression that sustains itself without any treaties) of relative peace with orgs maybe 4 times over the game's history.

One event I know is Nifilhema's Tear. A crazed Celestian started mass-killing Fae for the Light. That became the root of the Serenwilde-Celest war. In the end, though, they all got together to get old 'hema's Tear by singing her the song. It's a brutal summary; if you want to watch the play (made by Lendren), go to the Spiritsinger stage.

That was like 60 years before the Serenwilde-Celest war. They're not even remotely connected.
