Have a problem...with me and my manse?

To provide for the youth a place of learning, a place to stay and train, a place to make friends, And to grow to a Commune level.

That's pretty much what you said the first time. Might want to re-read what Amarysse posted for a more "compelling" sort of mission statement.

Does that mean you're not going to expand Rosegate anymore? wink.gif

As far as Nehwon goes, it is an interesting idea, but you might want to try to find something more concrete to found it on, or it's not going to have a compelling purpose. Someone who creates an aethercommune in memory of Ackleberry and attempts to design it as a tribute "realm" for the lost forest has a much more interesting and engaging idea than someone who just wants to create an aethermanse-of-all-seasons. Make up a mission statement for yourself and direct your creativity in a specific direction, or you'll just end up scattered, and there will be no reason for anyone to choose Nehwon over the other manses.

Hell, I'm still not even 100% refined on my stuff, I think it's limiting my growth (and we've got like 50+ people and 126 rooms). Get a hook for the manse, and then drag 'em in with it. Deepnight is the wannabe fifth wheel of the Basin, Jewels sells... jewels, Inn is inn-ish, etc.

When you think about a bunch of people living together, you think of apartments. Google some apartments and look at their "mission statement". They will usually make it eye-catching (or as eye-catching as an ad can be); modify it to fit your manse-community. Think of it as a product, one that you really want to sell. You're selling both an idea and living space; make it very appealing!

(Here's some crappy examples, sorry, not feeling creative: )

"Nehwon: better place to rest n' dine than the cold floors of Newton!" (Targetted at the younger playerbase).

"Nehwon is a wonderful and growing Commune. Conveniently accessible by the Aetherplex and (org portal connections list), our mission is to provide housing, entertainment, and a safe environment for young and old alike. Join Nehwon , and become a part of this unique community's history. We want to connect people to the resouces they need, both in work and play. Let your creativity shape the future of Newhon. Home sweet home!" (Targetted at the general/older playerbase.)

Ok.

From the top.

The idea for Nehwon is as follows:

1. To provide for the youth
2. To become a Commune
3. To expand
4. To become a huge ship with all armaments
5. To have a shop
6. To create relationships between people
7. To show my creativity
8. A place for all
9. To leave me at ease when it is done, to know I accomplished something.

This is the general idea. Any questions?

The bolded are things you're very likely going to end up paying for yourself. I know I did freaked.gif

Otherwise, this is a very cute goal! I hope things progress well for you smile.gif

Statement: Nehwon is a growing commune for all people. We combine all facilities here for work and play. Let your history become a part of Nehwon. We teach the next generations what has been forgotten. Its our guarentee that you will enjoy your stay.

How bout that?

I think what Amarysse and Xenthos were getting at is that you need some kind of specific identity or purpose that would cause people to pick Nehwon over, say, Magnagora or Deepnight. Make Nehwon -about- something as opposed to just some other place for people to live.
Daganev2007-10-10 21:31:25
I like the concept, sortof.

I think you will find more people if you make this manse Ackelberry focused.

Second, I think people who make these new manse communities, should look into making a halifax/Gaudiuchi place.

My suggestion is as follows.

CrystalHope - A manse which resembles a Halifaxian town. The manse will have rooms for experimentation, math, a chessboard, logic puzzles, a library etc. Call it a place of refuge for those with a disciplined mind. Do not say it is a manse for people who wish to Join Halifax, or see it's return. Don't make that selling point, just a by product.

Then the same for Gaudiuchi, except a place of refuge for those who enjoy the lighter sides of life. Have a miniature ring, a fountain, a "magic hat" box, a rose garden, etc.

Richter2007-10-11 01:06:24
So in essence, Daganev likes your idea, but thinks you should change it completely. smile.gif
Sylvanis2007-10-11 13:31:50
hehe I bet he does...Why don't we become partners...eh?

Daganev2007-10-11 16:05:06
I'm just saying that if people are going to be making these large communities, they should do so in a way that will bring people in who already have an interest in something that they can't have.

I mean, you have Richter's place, and you have the other snuggly forest place (forgot it's name), it doesn't seem like the game would need another random forest. A manse forest, and manse city already exist for these purposes.

I'd help but I don't personally have much ideas for either Guadiguch, ackelberry, or Halifax, and I am very fond of Glomdoring.

Edit: However, if you would like to join the Treeripper clan, perhaps we can join manses and rebuild the Eastern Isle that our family is supposed to be from. (that is what the treeripper manse currently is) tongue.gif (I kid ofcourse)
Sylvanis2007-10-12 01:41:01
Understandable.

I planned on trying to create a place for the aslaran's to live.

Don't the furrikins have a place of their own?

I wonder what this thread would be like if 99% of lusternia players weren't so nice.

So is that it?

Anyone else have anything to say?

Good or bad about the idea!!

Kharaen2007-10-14 03:23:31
Nehwon is a horrible name for a wannabe commune, FYI. I think Newton each time I see the name, and wonder if it's a newbie, super-snuggly version of Serenwilde.

Forest manses are overdone. There's a million of them. Most of them have their own shop. I don't see Nehwon as being more unique or different. It just sounds like another person saying 'I have a manse, and I want you people to fund it!'

I've had no donations for the expension of my manse, nor do I think I'll ever accept any. The plans for it are huge as well, the first 'serious' Inn style manse. Then Athine and Reiha copied the idea for some reason.

If you want something that isn't already done, I suggest what Daganev has already suggested. Make it Ackleberry focused if you absolutely have to have a forest manse. Have a clan associated with it so it can seem like a commune-like. You can even derive your 'plot' from the Tolborolla prophesy and form opinions based on the attitudes of the Tolborolla denizens.

I think Kismet precedes your whatever, and I'm pretty sure she's not trying to turn it into an Inn (last I knew it's being used as an aethership a lot).

This is long and unrelated to the rest of the thread, so the rest of you can move along.

I don't remember if Kismet came first, I just remember Ildaudid bought the fulcrux and two/three rooms for me as an engagment gift ( wub.gif ) - which I think was in late 2005 or early 2006. Didn't get a shop for it until this year, though, and as for your statement for the Inn thing - it's a bit of a gray area, not completely "Yes, I copied it", but not completely no. (Although I highly suspect you feel differently.)

Aiakon's character would think of Kismet as totally ghetto, but I personally like it. It's used as an aether/warship, shop, and home for Reiha and her family (Kalas and Tredia). However, long before you played this game, I've always wished for an "apartment" type thing, which I found to be lacking in the sense most casual or newbie players would not be able to afford a manse. At first, I wanted to make a seperate aether city for Magnagoran dwelling (which was what I was going to do with my first character actually, before I made Reiha) - but after being on Reiha a while, and not having the credits anymore to do this, I figured I'd make a small, affordable/almost free Inn for trustworthy citizens.

Seeing the prints for the Attai Inn inspiried me to get back to work on something I've put on the back burner for a long time smile.gif. Especially since Ildaudid always hated the idea, but he got his private get-away as a birthday present from me tongue.gif I suppose I did copy the "Inn" format in that regard, (but the whole ship is not an Inn FYI).

I'm kind of offended either way, but ZOMG, I didn't make Kismet so it could be popular like Deepnight or Attai. I made it so I could enjoy it, and share it with others. It's a little refuge for friends and family, and I hope when I finish setting up the rooms, that new players can enjoy the (affordable) 'apartment living' experience I would of liked to have when I first began playing. (And if you feel the layout or interior decoration is too similar, I've had the descs and azure/blue/silver/flower themes for a long, long time. Ildaudid should have a copy of the old notepad blue print with the current rooms and wanted additions.)

Meh. That's all.

/off topic

Edit: Meant wordpad, not notepad.
Sylvanis2007-10-14 13:30:46
You know that sounds like my place a little bit.

Its part aethership, and its also a refuge for family, friends, and newbies alike.

And I don't want to make it popular, if it becomes popular thats its doing.

I just promote it, for those in need, thats all.

And as far as the name goes, I am still working that part out. The name seems a little dull.
