You could always try a name generator of some kind for inspiration. There are place-name generators around.
Shiri2007-10-14 13:36:24
If you're not trying to make it popular, you don't really need to be posting threads like these to attract attention to them, and especially not keep bringing it up on market. I'd guess you actually do want it to be popular but for some reason don't want to think/say that bluntly because it has some negative connotation to you.
I wouldn't call Nehwon a horrible name, by the way, but it's not particularly evocative of anything, and "neh" is just such a half-arsed sound that you can't help but feel apathetic about it.

I post this to find out if people have heard of it, or have seen it, this gives me an idea of how it is viewed.
As for the popular part, I put it on market for people who don't have a home and want one. Its not like I try to force it on people.
And I plan to change the name anyway.
Just a matter of time.

I don't know if anyone else is familiar, but Nehwon kinda tightropes along the inappropriate namestealing line. Besides being directly taken from a (once) popular series of novels, it's also been stolen by so many other people over the years. The name carries a lot of mental baggage with it, at least in my mind.

As a side note, if you want it to be a place/refuge/whatever for newbies, you know it's just going to end up being a place where the nympho novices go to have hot, sweaty, poorly-emoted mudsex.
Richter2007-10-15 02:45:53
As opposed to Deepnight, where nympho oldies go to have hot, sweaty, wonderfully written emoted mudsex.
Juuuuust kidding.

I was wondering about that smell...

*Gasps*
Why would people want to do that?
I don't.
Besides I catch someone disturbing others, they are outta there.

It's not truly opposite unless it's cold, dry wonderfully written emoted mudsex.

Yes, but that's the worst kind.

How did we get to this?
heh I will never know.

I'd gladly support it if you turn Nehwon to an Ackleberry-esque commune. With a lake and a pet bear and all.
Sylvanis2007-10-15 13:06:55
1. why does every say Ackleberry-esque commune? I have no idea what that means.
2. Manse Nehwon is now Manse Dreymos.
3. Thanks for the support up until now, If I understand what you mean by number 1 then I will hope to have continual support.

Ackleberry is a Commune represented in Lusternia's history. It was populated by tae'dae and furrikin, the NPCs of both races IG being represented as mostly stupid and snuggly, so everyone gets that impression about the Commune itself.
Sylvanis2007-10-15 13:10:40
So if Dreymos, would be a commune tied into lusternian history, and was populated by, say aslarans, would that work?
Or am I not getting the idea?
Or am I not getting the idea?
Shiri2007-10-15 13:16:22
You're not getting the idea.
People are talking about a manse made to be Ackleberry-themed. So maybe a little wood surrounding a large lake with willows.
That way it already has a demographic it appeals to. Dreymos isn't a commune tied into Lusternian history any way you look at it, and the aslaran thing is just random.

Exarius has the aslaran, uh, "subculture" covered. Oh Lord, does he.
At any rate, I'm not sure people would even go to an Ackleberry-themed manse, myself. I think it would have to be pretty damn awesome to turn into something other than what most manses are (a place for forging and/or fornicating, not including aetherships and shops). And if you're looking for people to have homes in it, you're pretty much going to have to lose a lot of money, because there are already quite a few places offering living quarters for next to no profit.
Then again, I'm a pessimist.

As far as the theme goes, it is a wooded area, with a meadow, and a pond/waterfall as of now, It also has a bit of a cave in it too.
Soon though it will have other things. Such as a volcanic region, and soon a desert.
YAY!
But for the ackleberry theme, I guess that has already been covered.

Well, nobody will pay above 150k to have a home, unless there are a lot of ammendities (things that cost credits, like miniatures and manse dwellers, but in the end buying those will minus your profit anyway). Otherwise, Kharaen looks like she'll make some decent money, Richter charges 140k per room (-10k for him), Sybl I don't remember, and another girl, whose name starts with C I think (all I remember was that she was asian and had a squid avatar - yum!) - can't remember her price either.
If you want someone to fund it, you're going to need to find a sugar momma or daddy, or you're going to need to become one yourself
Sylvanis2007-10-15 17:20:43
AKA ME!
Since I fund about 3/4ths of the total project.
But its ok with me, especially since I create everything, you know.
