I just don't get how I killed them all once...and they all got vengeance. Maybe I'm reading HELP AVENGER wrong.

Lots of them died to your demesne effects in choke, which caused the Vengeance. (They also charged a second time after the first, after the initial declare faded. So they were essentially being attacked twice, and thus gained Vengeance. If I remember the rules correctly.)

The suspect came from having them all enemied with PK CAREFUL OFF. Can't control your demesne that way. (I learned to put Careful On the hard way about three times, now).
