Sometimes I think Celest has funny rules. sad.gif

I am hoping this is not a serious scroll...

1. Why is Free Immolations capitalized? Is it a commercial organization or something?
2. It's does not need an apostrophe anywhere in this paragraph.
3. There are no Asyerian Isles. I am guessing it means Arysian Isles.
4. The last sentence contradicts all of the sentences before it.
5. Defence is using the British spelling, which is obviously wrong on many levels.

I will skip over issues like using transitive verbs without an object (and vice versa); I can imagine people who make those mistakes (though not many people I have spoken to). But I would hope the obvious things would be checked before it was posted as an official rule...

It's actually worse when you know what the context is.

Is it about Marpessa? suspicious.gif

I'm so sorry to break your heart, but it's from CHELP POWER.

So, yes. I'm pretty sure it's official.

The rest of the file/scroll is just as odd, really. One CAN gather vaguely useful information from it (like the fact that the nexus is important), if one wades through the morass.

If I didn't think the current Power Minister would attempt to bite Aoife's throat out for it, she'd either offer to re-write it or mention its (numerous) flaws.

You think they would? Wouldn't they be glad someone was A. reading it closely enough to spot flaws and B. willing to help them out by fixing said flaws?

It's a verb that has to have an object to make sense. For example, hit. I always have to hit something, it doesn't make any sense if I just say: guess what, I hit!

Another example is 'inform' - it doesn't make any sense to just say 'You have to inform.' You have to inform someone or something...it's missing in this paragraph.

Erm...I wish I had a funny quote about transitive verbs. Surely they have come up in jokes before, right?

A priest, a rabbi, and a transitive verb walk into a bar. The bartender says, "Is this some kind of joke?"

EDIT: I should probably note that I understand WHY immolation would be restricted, and as such my reaction is due to the content of the rest of the paragraph as related to the bolded bit.

That's outdated.

(Glade): Charune says, "About 3 feet!"

Okay, okay, we get funny people too. Point made.

"What? You think I'm wrong? My scroll isn't perfect? Well, with all due respect, (cityrankhere), (ten minute exposition on why you are wrong, stupid, soon to be kicked out of the city, why everyone hates you, including your dog), so I'll thank you to keep your nose out of what is my business."

No one would really do that! Well, maybe if you went "Hey dumbass! Can't you write? Look at all those f-ups in your scroll! Luckily for you, I'm here to fix it!" or something rude like that. Then they'd deserve it. But if you're polite and offering to help? Who wouldn't like that?
Malicia2007-10-19 22:10:03
I think Anisu wrote that scroll, but there are a lot of scrolls that need to be combed over for errors. I've fixed up a few of them. smile.gif /hijack

Yeah, the idea of having to go through all the chelps and ghelps and make them accurate with the actual rules, and coherent from the dozens of people who can and have edited them makes most people want to cry, so it isn't often done unless someone happens to come along who uses java so its easier to edit.
