I'm confused, why does any Celestian much less Terentian need added justification to attack you Ildaudid, or Morg's shrines, or Magnagora in general for that matter. Our RPs don't exactly mesh as you well know. With all the complaining about so little conflict I would have guessed everyone would be delighted about a fight over shrines, if it was a missunderstanding or not.
Necessary justifications for attacking eachother, what the hell is going on in Celest and Magnagora? We don't need additional justifications to attack anything of the otherside! Our justification is embeded in Lusternia itself, if we want to add RP justification then thats all well and good, but they are not necessary. There is more than enough RP precedence to attack eachother forever, anything else is just gravy. However there is no justification for griefing and if you feel thats whats happening, issue it.
If you didn't attack the shrine then thats fine Ild, I would have still supported killin' your ass. I hope you would do the same for me.

Thank you!!!!
It is so mind boggling and frustrating to me that people will complain in one breath about there not being enough conflict and in the next they're quibbling over the details of a particular attack like they're in court or something!

A little late, but...
I have no idea what the people talking about 'teaching combat' are talking about. You cannot teach someone fighting unless you spend large amounts of time with them in an OOC manner. And, even then, the person learning will be mediocre at best. Unless you're talking about group-strategies, combat in Lusternia (or any IRE game, really) can only be learnt if you actually have an interest in learning, and enough time free to devote to learning. Seriously, just try teaching people 1v1 PvP, it's ridiculously difficult.

I agree with Xavius, there is a lot you can do to teach someone about combat without having to care about a system. A lot of people have systems and can cure themselves acceptably, but they have absolutely no clue what to do offensively, alone or in a group. Teaching someone combat involves teaching them about what their skills do, how they can be used together to kill people and keep themselves alive in clever ways, and how they can mesh well with a group. It takes a lot of time, but it's definitely doable and a lot of fun.

I agree with the point you're going for, but I think you have to be careful. Celest and Mag are not friends and never will be, but there's no reason you always have to stick to the most obvious role. Celest is good, Mag is evil; Seren is pure, Glom is twisted. That doesn't really allow for any dynamic conflict, it just assumes that our organizational RP should always be static, our enemies and friends always predefined. I'd like to see Mag or Celest go to war against the forests (not even necessarily together, but Celest against Glom and Mag against Seren would be fun). Don't always get settled into the "we kill you because you're the bad guys" idea; be a little more creative!

It'd be a lot more fun for Celest vs. Seren and Glom vs. Mag. That's actually breaking out of the mold!
Malicia2007-11-06 14:24:32
@Derian: Be creative? Mag and Celest will never fully align. The ideals are strictly opposite of one another. It's not about good vs evil. I don't find Celest to be a good org and Mag doesn't always identify with evil. Taint and Light are awesome aspects to debate. One of the best things about Lusternia is its history. So yes, while it'd be fun to see city vs forests, it'd have no value and wouldn't make any sense.
@Xenthos: There was Celest vs SW and well, most of them didn't find it very fun!

There has been a Celest+Seren vs. Glomdoring one as well. We surely didn't find it fun, either!
(Celest is the schoolyard bully that nobody wants to play with, so we just throw our lunch money in their direction and run screaming)
Malicia2007-11-06 14:30:55
There has never been a full scale organizational war between Glom and Celest. A few Celestians joining in on a raid, sure, but nothing like the war between Celest and SW. That was fun.

But you just said most of them didn't find it fun! See? My tongue-in-cheek point bears fruit.
Toss your lunch money that way, children, and then run for home as fast as you can before the Celestian Inquisition catches you!

You're kidding right? I ask a question, a simple question, and once again you get all defensive about it, resort to making it a "seperation" issue, and then claim that if I ask IC, that a person involved with an order that has me enemied ICly would be overjoyed to answer my question there and not just shrug it off? Please stop always trying to defend things that don't always need to be defended. Just because a ? mark is placed at the end of a statement, does not mean it is an attack and must be defended. You need to stop using your signature as your personal mantra, and maybe it is you who should learn a little about seperation. I am sorry that I asked you a question, I didn't figure you could somehow spin this into some form of defensable issue. Yes I said something about Terentia, which is an actual fact. Yes I said that is why my character truly has a dispassionate feeling for her, did I say I want to stab her player in the face with a fork? No? But you, take this so passionately and defensively that you want to defend anything she as a divine has ever done. Yet you call me the one who cannot seperate things? Please, please, please get a grip on yourself. And I will try not to ask any questions in a thread you may happen upon, in case your irrational defensive nature rears its ugly head once again to attack me for asking a simple question. Anyways, I am washing my hands of this, since there is no way if you respond it that it will be with an actual answer to my original question, but more than likely some form of fanatical rampage of words.
. . .

It was fun for me! I'm pretty sure Krellan had a good time too, until it ended and he got thrown out again (or maybe the first time). I enjoyed all of the political turmoil and internal conflict that came from it, and had a lot of fun whenever we actually got to fight. I had fun even with the arguments and fights with the leaders. It was only really not fun because we had very few people who could lead any raids/defenses, and even fewer people who would follow them.
Seren needs another good war to beat them into shape!
Malicia2007-11-06 16:08:48
I felt bad for Krellan, getting kicked out so many times, heh. He really should have been Champion at some point, but Moondancer rp is pretty hardcore.

I think he should be Moondancer GC now, but Accalia/Laysus a few other people who don't like him are keeping him out of the guild. Not to criticize them, it's more fun RP if they don't make it easy for him; I'd do the same thing if the roles were all switched around.

Keep up deathsense. If you see people dieing to other people often enough for your tastes, then go based on that. Don't go based on the forum rantings, which are not a reflection of the game itself.

Ironically enough, every time I was kicked out. Someone had just resigned from GC or GC was vacant. They have awesome RP. Lameness on policies. they don't even follow them.

Mainly just those two. Since it's just up to the GM, GC, GA and a vote between them. They're all convinced Krellan is powerhungry and just wants security. Secretly, he's plotting to takeover the entire guild and Patchou.
That or I'll just take CL and pull a Daevos by convincing all the snugglebunnies that it is of utmost importance that the commune buy me a cubix.

You just need to make Galaphyrae love you.
And wait...did Daevos really get a cubix that way?
That settles it. I'm contesting Sarrasri. For the good of the Wilde, of course...

He didn't buy it all with citycredits, I think he just got like 300 or so. Could be wrong though, it was like...when I started out with Ash. Which is WAY back.

Judging by the outrage I heard about it from some people, I would have guessed more then 300, though I guess 300 would piss people off too.
