Hi,

Been informed by a little birdy that your skill in Combat as a warrior can have a direct impact on how much you miss when attacking a person, I just wanted someone to prove or disprove that theory. I'd also like someone to tell me what other factors combat affects beyond how well stances work.

Cheers,

Chade

I've heard people say that it boosts wounding as well. Seeing as it's a parent skill, it should influence knighthood in a numerical way. Not sure on details.

It doesn't. He actually did more than me to Lenalith, with my hammers, due to his extra point of strength. Or if it does, it's tiny.

I think it does have some small effect on missing and on wounding. It is not much, though. By far, the most important variable is strength.

Missing, yes. Wounding, no. He's fairly low. I'm trans.

His str is higher than yours, though. Try with someone that has the exact same race, and I bet you would do marginally more.

He is my race. He has gedulah. I don't. When we're hitting each other in an unarmoured spot, we do the same, with about ~5 variation either way.

Supposedly you have maximum accuracy (for your race) as soon as you specialize. It isn't like the other IRE games where the amount of lessons you invest decides your to-hit rate. Here, it's a constant affected by only a few things: the weaponmaster skill in knighthood, the first skill in your specialization (bonecrush for bonecrushers), and native weapon racial bonuses.

Since combat is the parent skill of knighthood, it would theoretically augment whatever boost is given by lessons in knighthood, which is probably something like +damage, +wounding, and +speed.

I'm not entirely sure that's true. I noticed quite a difference in my to-hit rate during bashing between Gifted and Trans PB.

Then again, I could have just been rather unlucky before I trans'd. confused.gif

I haven't actually done tests or anything, but it was explained like that in an announce post when to-hit was changed to precision.
Ildaudid2007-10-15 23:20:53
I was always told not to worry about transing combat, especially as a warrior, since shield riposte would never be useful. I never thought it had any benifits whatsoever to the to-hit rate or anything. I still think it is just another skillset that doesn't do much for a warrior, after they get all the main stances they need from it.

I couldn't hit Eilar before I transed combat. Afterwards, the miss rate dropped significantly. Of course, as with all things in Lusternia, it could just be luck.

Think you mean Geburah (gedulah is the curer).
