Ok... I actually cried too soon, and still feeling a bit foolish, now to wipe the snot off my nose. Ascendants... And so a new chapter opens in our Lusty life!
Noola2007-10-18 17:39:17
Huh?
Xiel2007-10-18 17:42:04
Think she referred to the fact that Ayridion went all cocoon-ish recently. -sagenod-
Alodia2007-10-18 17:59:07
He didn't just go cocoonish, He exploded! Sacrificied His self... AGAIN to seal the Thingamajig that starts with "I" which a certain malevolent being was trying to reach, this being in question happens to have The Lord of Contagion at his disposal all along, and he was trying to get the Thing to become divine. Now Ilyarin is all that's left of Ayridion... which is somewhat comforting... but nontheless saddening RIKA, GADRITAN, AYRIDIONITES!!! WAIL WITH ME!
Noola2007-10-18 18:02:21
So... there's a new God then? In place of Ayridion, or along with?

No, he just poofed to stop the Dread Lord from getting at the "immandivius", the source of the power for creation. So... No more Ayridion, at least for the time being. Possibly forever. These things happen.

Ok, so Ayridion is gone.
But who's Ilyarin?
Unknown2007-10-18 18:08:51
Apparently, he's the remnant of Ayridion's Soul. The announce came out just after I posted.
Unknown2007-10-18 18:09:21
This is like the third time Ayridion has been forcibly removed from "reality." I wouldn't get too sad, yet. It's yet to be permanent.
Unknown2007-10-18 18:10:59
Woot for new lore! Boo for no more Ayridion. Who will Hallen be pettily envious of for beating him to the Staff of Ascension now?
EDIT: I think Estarra chose the words 'Domoth' and 'Immanidivinus' well. It's specialized gibberish jargon. I can't wait to throw it around in casual conversation to confuse novices.

Look at it this way- he exploded instead of Hallen. So, would you rather be mortal and not exploded, or a god, and dead via self-plosion?

Ayridion's back as an Ascendant named Ilyarin. HELP ASCENDANTS has all the info.
Unknown2007-10-18 18:19:40
I wouldn't mind self-plosions. I personally am really not miffed that I lost to Soll, but I like to roleplay Hallen as being pissed because he wanted to play the hero, essentially. So even sacrificing yourself again to become a True Ascendant would appeal to him because of his little messiah complex. Hooray for threadbare RP!

So Celest got a free Ascendant?

Maybe he's the first True Ascendant? Which isn't the same as a Vernal Ascendant... unless I misread.

Every time I read "Immanidivinus" I keep reading it as "I'mma Divine"
Well, this should be interesting. I wonder who Magnagora and the communes will raise as Vernal Gods? (Murphy would probably be a good choice.)

Except in that they are close tot he same. They have the same powers and everything, the difference is that True Ascendants are not tied to their organization. He could leave Celest and still remain an Ascendant, and Celest could choose to raise another Ascendant while he was around.
Basically, yes, Celest got a citizen who was the first to become an Ascendant, for free. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that; he did win the contest after all.
