Ilyarin is a True Ascendant, so it's possible that he's not representative of Vernal Ascendants.
They'll probably have a similar mechanic though, and it's unlikely to cost power, especially not the massive amounts Ildaudid was talking about, which is a good thing.
Ascendants should be the goal people save power for, rather than an additional continuous drain. 1 million flat value which can't be revoked and you can only have one of (I disagree with this last part) sounds about right.

Yea my massive power number was just there for a random number. Ok so he is a TA vs a VA, thats what I wasn't sure of, if it will be the same for a VA or not. Guess we can find out soon, but you both are probably right, there probably wont be much difference if any (on where they reform)

It could be a benefit for the vernal ascendants, they can reform with power from the nexus rather than waiting?
Shiri2007-10-20 07:42:16
I don't think anyone would choose to do that. They can either use their own essence or just wait a couple minutes.
Arvont2007-10-20 08:12:05
I am NOT excited.

Just adding my two cents here, but I personally think that perhaps having the true Ascendant's extra-abilities be closely tied into the Domotheos they arose from would be great. The TA's are around ('least, I think I heard they are) for a more roleplay prospective and not so much a combatant one, and I don't quite know how to implement area wide effects or group wide effects that won't influence combat so much. Only ideas that come to mind for me would be kinda combat-oriented and be overpowered to boot. but still, I think this is all great and would like to see how things would play out. -thumbsup-

At work I currently play TF2 right now. Team Fortress 2. It is a amazing, and most definitely a FPS But it is probably only Amazing to me, since my entire office plays during lunch, and we take over any server we join.
I've been playing TF2 sooo much lately.. It's GREAT!
But I can't decide which class to pimp out.. My ping is too high for awesome snipage, I play spy really nicely, but don't really like it as much as I used to. I'm torn between soldier and scout right now. Scout cap rushing is really fun! 1 v team circle running!
On topic: I think this is a great idea, but I would like it more if there was no limit of how many ascendants you could raise, but the price to raise one is 1mil power*1+the number of ascendants you have, so first costs 1mil, second 2mil, third 3mil, etc.

I like this system better then vernal gods, however could we have one change
He is an ordinary human ascendant
The bolded part annoys me, there is nothing ordinary about an ascendant especially since there will only be 5 possible right now could it be made to just show as Ascendant

Well, humans are ordinary, and it just adds "ascendant" to the end of the "ordinary human" line. Perhaps humans should have a different adjective, but I can't really come up with anything right now.
Jack2007-10-20 16:29:24
I've never liked that adjective.
Especially when it's like, "he is an ordinary undead human demigod". YEAH, REAL FREAKIN' ORDINARY

Just FYI, the time it takes for an Ascendant to reform his or her body is quite long. They generally will want to use the essence to reform their body.

What kind of time frame are we talking? In the hypothetical situation I had to be able to reform my body Ascendant style.. I could use a coke between fights, and if it's more than ten minutes, cool - I'll just go get a 64oz from up the road.
EDIT: I should probably add sarcasm tags after my first sentence.

Ilyarin was a soul for a few minutes at least.
Krellan2007-10-20 20:32:14
suppose it depends on the situation. Dying in a revolt/raid/nodes will be essence. Dying off prime will probably be essence, but maybe some who die on prime will want to just wait the few minutes since they end up saving more than that from the bashing.

I thought we established that Ilyarin is a TA not a VA, so it may be a little different? But either way a few minutes is nothing, prime praying is more like 5mins and feels like 10. So to make so people would want to burn their essence, it would need to be alot longer than a few-5mins before reforming. I would say like 15mins maybe 20mins and then they reform, this would make it so they used the essence, or if they were out of essence, that it would keep them out of whatever fight they got killed in long enough.
It kind of reminds me of the Imperian Dys idea. I really really like that death setup in which you have to do something to leave the place of the dead, and when alot of people die, people in Dys are all scrambling to do the minor little quests to get out in a hurry. This kind of thing initiated here, would most certainly be a way to stop people from congluting and rejoining withing 30-50 seconds of each death. Giving advantages to defense of places especially when they are outnumbered
