Just before the announce, there was a world message that said something along the lines that Lusternia has entered the Age of Ascendants.
Given that there's a larger potential number of Ascendants than there were for Ascended Gods (nine plus one per org, versus nine), I don't see that this is a concern. No, they're not turning into actual Gods. But I can't imagine there are so many people who will stop trying simply because Ascendants are weaker than Ascended Gods.
If anything, being able to remain a player after achieving it is a huge bonus for most.

I am curious to see what affect the chosen seal has on the ascendant. I don't know that there is any indication that only one person can ascend through a given seal, either. I assume that the number of ascendants is unlimited, depending on if and how often ascension events are held on a regular basis.
Unknown2007-10-19 19:10:10
So only a True Ascendant is associated with a particular Domotheos?
Noola2007-10-19 19:10:15
Yeah, I think the only limited number of Ascendants there are are the Vernals, cause each city/commune can only have one and we currently only have four such orgs. Though I bet the TA contests would be few and far between.
Daganev2007-10-19 20:03:44
This is wonderful.
But why only one ascendant per Nexus? from a story line perspective that is.

I know you're players, but I don't actually KNOW any of you, which means you don't mean anything to me. It's like the bums down in cleveland who stand outside the office, and constantly ask for money or whatever. I know of them, but I disregard their existance cause they are worthless and should get jobs.
I just fail to understand why you play a highly interactive multiplayer game if you're not going to interact with the other players. Why not just play a single-player game, or an online FPS? And why post on the forums if you clearly don't care about anyone else's opinion?

FPS games make me dizzy! All the swirly graphics. Alright, carry on.

I do play FPS' too, I just go through spurts where Muds stir my attention, but now that I'm coming close on the number of honours quests I can accomplish, being enemied to everyone, I am starting to grow bored and I'll probably revert back soon... It's the damn pc game market, after Rapture, I haven't found anything worth my time. Lusternia, is the best bang for the buck a lot of times in a stagnant pc game market.

Halo and Gears of War are slower paced FPS games, which is why I like them. They aren't as frenzied as games like Unreal Tournament, so they don't give me a headache or make me motion sick.

Well, a standard response to the 'why only one' question would be 'two such beings would be too much for one nexus to support'. This is what I like to call the Power Card. It's generally used in RPGs and such. To answer why something is the way it is, you can just pull out your Power Card: "Because it's too powerful/not powerful enough (in some way or another)."
Forren2007-10-19 21:48:43
Yeah.. I personally don't like the limit, and would think it's additional motivation to get power if more than one Vernal Ascendant is allowed.

I'm thinking it's a First Person Shooter. I'm horrid at them, myself. I never spot all the folks shooting at me and then I panic and forget how to reload my weapon and die.
Kind of like what happens when I get in a fight in Lusternia.

Odd. I would think you had a deep fondness for good old-fashioned FPS games.
Ialie2007-10-19 21:55:17
First Person Shooter?
Malicia2007-10-19 22:02:12
Games like Unreal Championship/Tournament - Flight Simulator - 007, etc. I'd feel a bit nauseated just watching friends play.
Xenthos2007-10-19 22:11:48
Wait wait. Flight Simulator was an FPS?
Oh, come on. It was just flying around. No guns! It was sure exciting way back when, though. Especially the crashes.
I was actually kind of good at it too, after a while, so that means it couldn't have been an FPS.

Malicia2007-10-19 22:16:29
It was the first person view that sort of got to me. Motion sickness and all. I guess it wouldn't classify as a true FPS. Most games that have the really unstable 3D background bother me. Like Tomb Raider!

I think I do? I play Halo, but that's really all I can think of since Lusty wouldn't count for one.
Unknown2007-10-19 22:25:03
Games like Unreal Tournament are substantially "faster" than most FPSs. Play Halo or something.
