Funny, I always thought it'd be Draco Malfoy she'd out!

Isn't he married at the end of 7?

Isn't that a lil bit of a spoiler?

I didn't see Dumbledore that way, he seemed more like a monk who was really focused on what needed to be done, but it does make sense, especially with Nickolas Flamell (sp?) from the early books. It's brave of Rowling to say it though with all the parodies of him on Youtube.

It's a minor spoiler from 2 lines of the epilogue of a book which finished like 3 months ago, yes.

I figured everyone who was going to has read it by now...
Gabranth2007-10-20 08:27:21
Good point.

And explicit scenes with Dumbledore already have appeared in fan fiction.

I knew there were explicit fanfics with every student you care to name, but... just... twitch.gif

Dumbledore was like a million years old. Why does anyone care about his sexuality?

Cause Mothballs and Bengay are hot.

And yes, the puns and innuendo were fully intended. tongue.gif

I completely ignore the epilogue. It's so BAD, really, as compared to the rest of the series that I pretend it doesn't exist.

However, I will rant about it privately!
Shiri2007-10-20 14:30:33
Yea, we had that discussion on a thread when the book came out.
Yrael2007-10-20 15:43:24
I'm more worried about what J.K rowling said on the bbc site - "Oh my god, the fanfiction".
Kharvik2007-10-20 17:48:43
The man is over a hundred years old, why would he be hitting on girls anyways? I found this to be hilarious, I wonder if she just said it to get more readers or more publicity or something.
Unknown2007-10-20 17:58:56
Who cares.
Saran2007-10-20 18:20:21
yeah, there is a bit of "...so?" , but the only real answer to why is canon. my hp fangirl friend used caps, exclamation marks and full words rather then abreviations when I passed this on to her

Yeah cause a book that sells 11 million copies on the first day is in need of more readers and more publicity .... doh.gif

said that she regarded her Potter books as a "prolonged argument for tolerance" and urged her fans to "question authority."

Presumably this is part of the tolerance building bit. Why she waited until the series was finished, I don't know.

Probably a "Everyone loves Dumbledore, but he's gay" kind of thing. Everyone loves him, now for the shocking secret to make people wonder.

You dare point out a flaw in my argument, completely obliterating it? A pox on you fisticuff.gif

I trust JK Rowling enough to believe her that she hasn't added this "after the fact", as it were. Given that she mentioned Grindelwald in HPatPS, and then not again until HPatDH, she obviously had things planned out. Also, it makes the Dumbledore falling for the "Greater Good" line a lot more plausible and character-defining.

I can also see why she didn't include a revelation like this in the book, because it would have totally overshadowed everything else - it shouldn't, but it would have.
