17.8 BOMBARD!

THE GAME OF BOMBARD!
--------------------
Bombard! is a game of aethership strategy, where opposing players place their
ships on the board and then attempt to blow each other to smithereens! The
game is won when one player has completely destroyed the ships of their
opponent.

In order to play Bombard! you must have a Bombard! board, or be in an
establishment that has them available, such as the occasional tavern,
aethermanse, or gaming parlor.

The commands to play Bombard! are:

BOMBARD INITIATE WITH This will initiate a game of
Bombard! with another player, using
the set pieces of your choice. You
may have up to four games activate.

BOMBARD DISPLAY Display the entire board, or only

BOMBARD LOOK a part of it. Note that you will
only be able to see your own ships.

BOMBARD PLACE
After a game has
been initiated, each player must
place all of their ships on the
Bombard! board. Look at the SETLIST
to see which pieces you need to
place.

BOMBARD START After all pieces are placed, begin
the game!

BOMBARD HIT When it is your turn, attack the
given coordinates. A "O" represents
a miss, and a "*" a hit.

BOMBARD LIST List all your active games, or
optionally list all the games on
the Bombard! board here. Great for
keeping an eye on how your scurrilous
companions are doing.

BOMBARD SETLIST View the available Bombard! sets.

BOMBARD SWITCH Switch between your active games.

BOMBARD CANCEL Cancel an active game.

Thanks for the great games Doman and Pentu!

I must say that this is an extremely fun game and thanks to the Admin for working on it.

Really fun game, I need a board.
Noola2007-10-21 22:02:03
Oooh!
Acrune2007-10-21 22:02:39
Neat! Can't wait to try it, I've never been much for chess.
Xenthos2007-10-21 22:02:56
Though it's got fewer pieces than Battleship, for some reason. Makes the board look very empty.

It needs a second 2-spotter, or a 3-spotter.

Other than that, it's quite fun. Far better than Chess for an easy, non-time-consuming game.

Did Morgy make this? ohmy.gif

When a game is initiated I wish it would announce what set is being used, would be alot more convenient I think. Other then that I love it!

Subj: Bombard!

A new boardgame, Bombard!, is now available for sale at the Aethermanse
Artifact Shop on Avechna's Peak for 150 credits! This is a game that
involves two opponents trying to destroy each other's ships on a
coordinate grid, and can be played at any Bombard! board.

Fain originally began coding this many moons ago, but it's finally been
finished and released! Wahoo!

HELP BOMBARD explains how to use the boards. Cities and communes
interested in purchasing a board for the city should contact their
patron.

Penned by My hand on the 5th of Kiani, in the year 189 CE.

Now we just need a version of Texas Hold'em! pray.gif

Edit: Though, I dunno if I'd call Battleship a strategy game.
Arix2007-10-22 00:06:37
how the hell do I start the game?
Diamondais2007-10-22 01:50:11
It's a very fun game. I haven't played Battleship in ages. wub.gif

Well done whomever worked on it!
Xiel2007-10-22 01:56:21
Seems Fain started on it and just now got finished according to the post. I wish I could watch the game going on though even when I'm not a part of it...whenever I tried to do BOMBARD DISPLAY # or BOMBARD LOOK # or any variation thereof, I always encountered the error message. losewings.gif
Reiha2007-10-22 01:56:31
I get the feeling people are going to play this board game more than fly in aetherships pfft.gif

The old Fain did start the coding of Bombard, but Morgfyre was able to pick it up and finish it. You can watch the game. That error was fixed as soon as we could get to it.

Any ability to get a second 3-spotter in there, or even a 2-spotter to make it harder than normal battleship? The board looks so empty! But it is nice, and the display thing seems to work pretty well, too.
Unknown2007-10-22 02:04:33
I'd like to see some adjustments to battleship rules to make it more fitting of aetherships. Like maybe some abilities for the various ships, a limited range of movement and other such stuff restricted by something akin to a collective power pool of each player?
Ymbryne2007-10-22 02:09:03
Yeah, I didn't understand either why there were only 4 pieces. Doesn't the original Battleship come with 5?

Yeah. The sub and the destroyer are both 3-spots.
Ildaudid2007-10-22 03:30:28
Should have a game sale chessboards and bombard board package for 150cr

Reiha is gonna kill me when I buy a bombard board, so I am doing anything I can to try and get a deal outta it >.>
