I think I'll have to buy this for the Attai games room when I get some artisanal credits.

Now we just need a version of Texas Hold'em! pray.gif

Edit: Though, I dunno if I'd call Battleship a strategy game.

QFT. Of the god knows how many types of poker out there, I think Texas Hold'em is the most popular. Heck, you might actually get people gambling more often with a Hold 'em in the game.

Edit: It also doesn't seem like the most difficult of card games to code.

I wish they had texas hold-em, I would have steady income finally!

I haven't gotten to play this 'bombard' yet, but it sounds like a nice diversion.

No please no poker! please please please!

I used to play this game called Puzzle Pirates, quite good fun. The only probelm was that all everyone did was sit around and play poker - nothing else seems to happen! If you tried to get people together to pillage (being pirates and all) everyone was just sitting around playing poker. Also, becomes the easiest way for people to make money, no more bashing, questing, etc.

I loved Puzzle Pirates when I played in beta! Great game, imo.

Silence, heathen.

Also, a simple way to solve that is have it be akin to Bombard and Chess--PvP only.

In Puzzle Pirates it was only pvp!
Hah take that! content.gif

Strangely enough, at one point we had on the drawing board the idea to bombard constructs with this interface (i.e., you have X shots possible spread throughout the weakening period).

Then that makes no sense, and you just proved yourself wrong.

Its not even possible to have a way for everyone to make tons of money without a need to bash if someone has to lose, now is it? For Player A to win 10,000 gold, players B-D have to lose a total of 10,000 gold, and then have to go back out and bash or quest or influence for that 10,000 gold. There's no new source of infinite income suddenly created.

So.. uh.. yeah. Don't start that victory dance too soon.

I'm pretty sure the rules to battleship are completely open to use. You just can't use the name. There are hundreds of battleship clones spread out across the net.

There will always be some people who will keep laying no matter what they lose. Sure eventually their money will run out, they will have to bash more or even buy credits. The problem I was invisiging was when poker becomes the dominant pivot around which everthing revolves. People just bash for poker money, when they have money who wants to raid, village influence, bash, RP?

Oh and...please don' t take the victory dance as serious, at least half the time I'm being flippant

That still doesn't really make any sense. There are far better poker simulators out in the wild wild web than a text-based one. You don't see people sitting and playing blackjack only, or chess only. Its just not feasible in a game like this. Sure, there will be a core few players who might have ring games going often open to all comers, but I doubt you'd see it to the exclusion of other activities completely or for a long period of time. If people wanted to play poker -that- bad, there are plenty of ways to do it. Hell, Aradwolf has had texas hold-em for aaaages, and it hasn't sucked in all of its players to some demonic realm of addiction. tongue.gif

Meh, perhaps you are right. I guess the problem with puzzle pirates is that having a lot of money was the easiest way to win the big prizes,

More money = More ships + More jobbers
More Ships + More jobbers = More winning!

It probably won't have the same effect here although...people flooding the credit market with poker addiction would be nice on my poor purse
