Alright, so...

Saaga is a Priestess of Lord Japhiel, a Celestine. She has written books on mainly philosophical subjects, that aren't quite the best, but are however. She is the Dean of Twilight and thus in charge of the Temple of the Enigma, and is very devoted to Elostian.

I'd like to be good at combat - I'd really do. I feel just desperate and frustrated and it is driving me away from Lusternia. I have tried on taking a break and such, but I really want Saaga to, well, flourish.

Please. I am open to constructive suggestions.

And also, that whole thing with being enemied to Serenwilde and such - Gahhh. Things I have done with Saaga out of frustration in the past... Well they still affect and hinder the character and me as its player - own fault though, thus I ask you, all, how to make me enjoy playing again.

I found Celestine combat to be annoying. Changing class has always renewed my interest in the game. If you like the idea of demesnes, consider going Aquamancer since Celest needs more mages. Otherwise I'd go bard. Bards have a lot of RP room for writing things, especially plays. There's no reason you can't keep your holy focus as a bard, either. Knights require a decent amount of credits to be good, which, judging by your skills, you don't have a ton of extra credits laying around, so that would likely frustrate you too. I don't really know much about monks. They don't really appeal to me personally, but I don't think you need a ton of credits for those. At the moment they're kind of a unknown because they're so new that they could be adjusted a lot. Then again, the monk guilds are big, which you may enjoy as well.
Saaga2007-10-28 18:57:27
I am not sure I could endure another guild change though, but I did enjoy being a Cantor when I was. The thing is, I've just reached GR5 in my guild and kinda want to see it all through... But then again, am not enjoying the combat much.
Arix2007-10-28 18:58:28
go Tahtetso and PPK your boredom away
Saaga2007-10-28 19:15:02
I just really like Lusternian combat and would really, really like to be at least semi-decent at it - and enjoy the RP at once.
Furien2007-10-28 19:30:35
Well for, starters, d'you have a system? You'll need that before you get into combat.
Saaga2007-10-28 19:31:15
I use Ethelon's 25 credit system, aye.
Furien2007-10-28 19:50:43
Hmm, well, if you still wanna fight as a Celestine you should talk to the fighters your guild has. Yevah (if she's around), Talkan, Neraka, Alodia. (No, people, I'm not going to talk about skill, I'm talking about knowing what you're doing!)

Get some strategies from them, learn the basics, learn your kill methods. Alias all your attacks. Take baby steps, I guess.

Also, might wanna work towards Focus Mind in Discipline. It's at Fabled.
Saaga2007-10-28 20:11:29
-sniffles-

I have spoken to them, and what I get, is

"trans resilience, trans thatandthat, and you'll be of use."

I feel so utterly useless. Over the time, I think I have spent at least 200-300 dollars on Lusternia, and I cannot still enjoy what is something that I know I would enjoy. I feel like giving up on Lusternia all in all at times.

Acrune2007-10-28 20:36:08
You're transed 2 of your guildskills, except for tarot, but trans tarot isn't really important, just need aeon and soulless. You have offensive potential, have people focus on offensive strategies.
Ymbryne2007-10-28 21:12:45
If you're in the Celestine Seminary there are some helpful files for beginner Celestine combat, especially for offense.
Unknown2007-10-28 21:19:15
You don't really need to trans resilience and all that garbage. Yes, it helps, but it's not vital. Just get some levels and hopefully you are human or something with decent health and you'll be fine. Focusmind is another story, it's pretty vital as far as combat goes.

I can't tell you much about Celestine combat. The only people I've fought one on one are Talkan and Alodia. Beat alodia, lost to Talkan. It really just came down to his (talkan) curing being too good for me to aeon lock and being too stubborn to run from Infidel. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between their tactics other than talkan likes to throw random aeon tarots that really don't do anything. Inquisition your way to victory? That seems to be the general consensus. Hinder hinder hinder heritic/infidel/inquisition. That's what I've seen.
Aison2007-10-28 21:52:29
Trans Planar is vital if you want to do combat. Not just because of conglut, but because then you can hear everyone and communicate with everyone.

But that aside.

If you can do weaponparry in combat and can tumble, you're pretty useful as is. The other skills are pretty much just gravy.
Saaga2007-10-28 22:29:42
I have trans planar, but focus mind and tumble are some things I need...
*needs to get rich first, my current student budject does not allow purchases*
Yrael2007-10-28 23:05:43
Thankfully, combat was changed so people without focus mind could compete. It still helps - a lot - but it's not OMGWTF VITAL. You can get along without tumble, too, if you're good at running the hell away. Just keep in mind you will croak if someone manages to afflict you to hell and back. Celestine combat is all about timing, and you've got everything you need to dive right in. Start sparring people you can't beat, until you can. And don't listen to them - Alodia and Yevah don't know what they're doing.

Let's not forget Krellan, who has apparently never spent a dollar on the game.

Hah! Someone who actually has the balls to say it out loud! It's actually true, and I admit it. Despite actually being Security, I'm actually still trying to study combat for myself. Half the time in raids/defenses I really don't know what I'm doing, aside from listening to orders; and I'm not one to lead, or fight alone.

Anyway, you don't need tumble that much (especially after the nerf). Better if you have a Starleaper and Hermit ready before the fight, if you're really expecting to have to run. Focusmind is a really nice investment, but it's not absolutely vital. If you're dead set on buying credits -- prioritize getting focusmind before the others since you're going to run on a budget and don't be in a hurry to spend your cash for it.
Hazar2007-10-29 00:54:17
Once upon a time, both tumble and focus mind were essential. Times change.

Namely, any time I acquire a really important skill, it becomes less important.

I've not spent cash on Lusternia yet, either. I would if I were allowed, even if just to support the game I love so much. Ask me some time how much I've earned since I started playing... or just take a look at what I'm wearing... and then ask me how I did it. ohyeah.gif

I hear people all the time who are unhappy with their character, their situation, or their ability to do this or that. If you're determined enough, you can do just about anything you wish. Don't let your budget get in the way, at least!
Lysandus2007-10-29 01:55:28
From what I heard, timing with your entourage is crucial if you want to pull off a soulless kill let alone judgement or absolve.

If you really need a break though, do it. Works wonders for me.

Because there aren't any other ways of earning Credits from Lusternia other than spending cash right? Builders, Guiding, person systems being sold, prizes, gold to buy from Guild/city/commune/market, etc. nyah.gif
