Smaug/Diku/Lp/Circle are all different MUD engines that other Muds use. Here IRE developed their own mud engine called Rapture (I think thats the name) and it is pretty exclusive to IRE games.
If you want to be safe, make an alias (like Nejii told me to, since I was tired last night and flustered). Make it so score = oldscore and so that sc = oldscore. This will make it so that it won't mess up anything ethelon did for his system, at least until you find out if anything works off the score command. (It is a temp fix, until he either fixes his system for the new score, or until he tells you you don't need to worry about it)

Ah, okies. I'll do that. Thanks! Though I really do like the new score a lot, so I hope it's not a problem and I can go back to using it!
Ildaudid2007-10-31 15:22:07
Yeah, just send him a msg IG since he doesn't come to forums alot, and he will let you know if it messes with anything. And in the meantime if you wanna see the new version of score ya can make an alias for nsc = score, or just use the ampersan infront of score (~score) and it should show you the new score.

Two thumbsup. I likey!

Am I missing something or is Divine Order membership not listed on the new score?

It is, it's in the Organization section.
Unknown2007-10-31 21:30:03
Hmm, mine isn't showing up.

Are you in your Order's outer circle? Cause I'm assuming that the outer circle doesn't show up. (mine doesn't either)
Arel2007-11-01 00:15:08
I don't think Orders are showing up. Mine did at one time and now it doesn't and I'm not in the Outer Circle.
Diamondais2007-11-01 02:42:28
I love it!
I didn't expect it at first but.. It's neat!

Nothing like Diku or Diku/Circle that I started MUDing with... can't say about Smaug since I haven't played those... but in general, I hate it... just don't like it that's all. I'm just bad with changes and new things I guess.
Neuf2007-11-01 03:55:34
Smaug is a derivative of Diku, hence why I said diku and not smaug. If you go log in any random ones, you're bound to find these type of scores. Especially in smaugs and Ackmuds. *shudder* I came to IRE games because I was sick and tired of these colourful boxed data, with pretty numbers which in RP terms really mean nothing, only in game terms. The only thing good about it, possibly, is for scripting purposes. *shrug* bleh. I still want to know what's next. Damage numbers listed when making a hit? haha
Simimi2007-11-01 04:07:12
I would love configurable damage numbers or damverbs actually...

Yeah it looks like they got rid of it. :/ I wonder why?
Xavius2007-11-01 04:40:06
Divine order and clan membership should be on STAT. GUILD SCORE shouldn't glean either of those. Bad mojo.
Arel2007-11-01 05:12:54
I was never able to see anyones divine order information using GUILD SCORE, and I don't think I could see private clans either, but I'm not sure on that one.

I sort-of like the new score, but I like the old score better. While this new one presents the information in a much more easy-to-follow format and separates the information in a fairly logical manner, it's a lot less... immersive? Odd, I know, but seeing everything in neat ASCII boxes briefly reminded me that I was using a terminal to play a game. The old score was less blatantly computational and fit with other, similar reports (honors, stat, etc.), which provided more of a sense of cohesiveness when jumping through informational pages.
Oh, and:
Sorry to nitpick, but ~ is a tilde, and & is an ampersand.

If you don't like it (and we won't be offended if you don't), the next time you log in enter the following commands:
SETALIAS SC OLDSCORE
SETALIAS SCORE OLDSCORE
Problem solved! We'll leave oldscore available for those who prefer it to the new format.

No!!! Dont give them more ideas to waste time on ugly cosmetic changes. *Panic*
Now we can all look forward to more colourful changes, oh and the newbie midgaard area, and a spanking new KILL command for bashing!

I love the new scores. For people worried about immersion...the score command is inherently OOC. Seeing 83.45% does not break immersion any more than seeing 83%. Adding color to an inherently OOC report doesn't break immersion; the report is OOC by nature. It gives me (the player) more details, and it's easier to read. Good work!
