Trade Skill?

I'm considering a new trade skill. I am torn as to which would be good for a bard or a druid. I am currently considering Herbs or Tailoring. Splendour robes are indeed nice, but herbs seems like it would be good for pvp and would help with the squishyness of being a faeling.

Any others, anyone want to weigh in here?

why go druid? I thought you liked being that crazy lady who lives in the cathedral
Simimi2007-11-22 10:02:13
I do, but I am a monk now, and this is for an alt, not for mimi.

If you're worried about squishyness, you might consider alchemy for the extra sip bonus.

Having been both as a faeling druid, my vote goes to Tailoring. You've already got a level 1 herb balance from being faeling, and another level of that isn't -that- helpful. Certainly not nearly as helpful as robes with greater cutting/blunt resistance and double-proof effectiveness.

While it is true that having a well-stocked Rift at no cost (except mind-numbing harvesting hours) was nice, you can always buy more herbs. Splendours, on the other hand, are unique. And if you've got some creative bones in your body, Tailoring will allow an outlet for that that Herbalism doesn't.

Definitely tailoring. Herbalism is rubbish, nobody likes it.

Splendours are great, but herbs is even better. This is like a week late though.
Simimi2007-11-30 08:15:34
Yea but not too late, I haven't changed from herbs yet, thankfully...

Change to Tailoring, get your Splendors, and change back to Herbs.

Do splendours last long enough to justify that?

I just get mine mended when they get around 10-15 months. So far, I've been happy with that, but they were an awesome set of robes (72/72) to begin with.
Shiri2007-11-30 15:33:28
Oh, I didn't know you can mend splendours. That's fine then.

I have done both, and they each have their benefits. Herbs is mind-numbingly boring, and takes a lot of time wandering around to harvest things. On the bright side, you get a full rift at no cost, it requires no investment besides time, and you can make more money than a tailor. You also get the sparkleberry bonus and another level of faster herb balance, which could help you out. As a faeling, harvesting is especially fast because of your balance bonus. If you et gloves, you could speed through quickly (between 1-1.5 seconds per herb).

Tailoring will never make you any money whatsoever unless you have a shop. It is useful solely for the splendour robes, and for helping friends who need robes/proofs every once in awhile. You will be tankier with splendours, and you won't have to invest the time for herbs, but you will also be out more money to fill your rift, especially for sparkleberries.

I personally never design anything and don't make any money. I am a tailor solely because I like the splendour robes. This would be especially good for a druid since they don't have many other defenses so the DMP won't hurt them.

You can mend them forever, and the stats stay the same. They are negative for your prestige after tawdry, like everything else, but the stats stay exactly the same forever as far as I have heard.

Correct; and as to prestige - that's why there's jewelry.
Noola2007-11-30 16:25:15
That puts a funny image in my head of a bunch of folks walking around in frumpy rags but just decked out in crazy amounts of bling. Something like that ought to bring your prestige down even more just cause of how goofy it makes you look. laugh.gif

Actually, I'm not sure this is still the case. After my last mending, my robes were 70/70. I'm about due for another mending, so I was going to see if they actually dropped or if that was in my head or if it was a fluke or what.
