The Artifacts from the Auction

They're still relatively useless since they require being wielded, and people are already struggling to get enough wielded spots. The other enchantments work just fine when worn, which means that they're actually better than 250-credit artifacts. Wouldn't mind if the two things were wearable (the spiderweb shouldn't have any issue with being wearable, though the fan makes less sense). Still, let the spiderweb be wearable, and the fan be useable while unwielded/unworn, and they're worth their price.

I feel really bad for people who bought them, especially under these circumstances. They should be just like any other enchant, but now they are just a huge waste of credits.
Estarra2007-11-24 18:10:57
Seems reasonable. We can do that for the fan and spiderweb.
Xenthos2007-11-24 18:14:46
Thanks!

That's awesome thanks Estarra dribble.gif (I don't have one but I know all those glommies with them, aka Lizzy, CareBearAsh, and the rest are gonna be happy!!!)

Yeah, personally I don't like to see auction items get turned into regular artifacts. I understand there's coding time put into them and there's a desire to gain more benefit from the effort. As well, some items just turn out so cool that you want to see more of them in game. But with more of them in game, auction winners are losing out on part of what attracts people to auction items - uniqueness.

I didn't keep track of who won what artifacts. I only know of the disposition of one of them from the last auction, and that's because the winner took the time out to show it to me. But just imagining myself in that position, I'd want an opportunity to return the artifact for full auction value if it went over the sale price of the artifact. Or failing that, a reimbursement of the surplus credits bid over the set sale price.

On the other hand, I'm kinda glad to see some of these artifacts become publicly available. The archway and mask in particular. The archway is one of those great manse items that should have been around to begin with. The mask only gains in usefulness the more of them there are in game, if they function like the Idras mask I'm more familiar with. Though on that note, I'm hoping they don't show up in a skillset unless every org gains it, otherwise the mask becomes an annoyance when you're constantly having to remove it to prove you're not an enemy. Maybe the mask doesn't work like I think, and this isn't a concern.

I paid 245 and 255 for the fan/spiderweb, so it averages out to 250. The others went for a bit cheaper, so the sale price for them is fine by me, and I got the use of them for a bit before anyone else. Hooray!

None of us really lose anything by them becoming public, though-- and we gain them being useable! Win-win.

Well, can't say any issues with the astrolabe! Though I'm sure those who are astrologers will be happy that they can get it now.

It is my firm believe that when they make auction items public they should give the buyer the chance to return the item at buying cost regardless of how it is priced now. The items where auctioned as unique, if they want to implement them as regular artifacts they should just auction them as a pre-order.

For astrolabes it does not really matter as it has functionality that makes something easy to use, but if you take those cloaks and masks they mainly have RP value, the value is higher when the item is unique then when every single person can purchase it.

At this point, the auctions *are* being auctioned as pre-order-- they had precedent from previous auctions that said they'd eventually release some of these things as regular artifacts. Nowhere did they say that they are unique.

Further, the mask isn't useful when only 1-2 people have them-- then you know exactly who they are.

They wont make the amulet of ressurection again. That was an awesome artie and I ended up trading it in. Ahh well if they make it again, there goes another couple thousand credits just to get it back
Gwylifar2007-11-25 14:23:13
Maybe they're using the auctions to get an idea how much they can charge for them, eh?

Traded mine in so I could rune my bashing-axe. <.<

As an aside I think those gloves of concealment should hide what the wearer is wielding, that way they could be used with the mask to better conceal who the person might be. I'd definitely get some if they did that.

I'm happy about the Marauder's Mask. But, you know, I still can't afford it. tongue.gif

It's very simple. If I were to wear one, you would see "A masked faeling stands here. He is wielding stuff."

This wasn't meant to sound sarcastic, if you already knew what the mask does, then never mind.
Daganev2007-11-26 17:43:23
Can someone post the list of new artifacts?

That's what I figured it did. In which case, yes, more masks make the individual masks more useful. That's a good thing.

Just to be sure, they drop on offensive actions? Can you target 'masked' or some such, or do you have to figure out who they are first?

It's probably best if you can target a masked person while masked, or else it's blanket immunity to targetted attacks for some time - short or long depending on how quick an enemy can figure out who it is, and the more masks there are the longer this will take. But then you wander into how the Avenger will figure into this. Or how to differentiate between multiple masked people in one room, when targetting.
