So these are my skills as of right now. I am a 51 (42.53) human. I got rid of everything but illusions to get to staff in geomancy. I figure my only option now since I can't afford credits is to bash like crash and rat till I am high enough circle to start making some serious gold for credits.

Anyways, it got me curious...

What would you all do? Would have given up everything to obtain your best hunting skills or would you have just waited for it? Mind you...I had to astrogate...the one where I could weave gates I mean. I forgot all of planar, discipline, and discernment. What would you have done if you were in my shoes? And what would you do if you had done the same thing I did.

Christ, no. You've got rid of so many useful tangenital skills. Fortunately a lot of them are pretty low down in their respective skillsets, but still, think of what you've given up. You can't inr/outr, you can't put up insomnia, you can't clot, or survive on any plane that isn't prime or ethereal. I personally would've just bought a few credits as and when I could afford them to raise skills, or entered the bardic/artisanals, or even waited for the Christmas event, which usually involves free stuff and the giving away thereof.

unsure.gif It is kind of a drastic thing to do. You prolly lost a bunch of lessons moving them to the necessary lesson pool too. Or maybe not. I can't remember if the ones you said you forgot are in the same group as Geomancy or not. But what's done is done, so what're you going to do from here?

Myself, I'd work on getting gold for credits in game (and honestly, I'd buy some out of game, but that might not be an option for you) and I'd write something or draw something for the Bardic/Artisanal. Take part in every guild/org contest you can to win gold and credits - use the gold to get more credits. You need to get back some of those abilities you've forgotten cause right now, even though you've got your strong bashing weapon... I don't think you'd be very adept at bashing not being able to clot or survive on any of the Planes... you can't even hunt grubs right now.

Actually, grubs are where I am hunting right now. I can take them and lindwyrms. I haven't tried anything else because I don't have trigs set for curing anything else right now. Except maybe spectres.

Are you just tanking the damage being on the Elemental Plane without the Planar ability to survive it gives you? Or did you already get that much Planar back?
Unknown2007-12-02 04:42:10
I've made this mistake before. Never forget non-guild skills to learn guild skills. Ever. You'll end up regretting it. Oh wait, you already did it.

And I don't mean to burst your bubble here, but no one really bashes gold to buy credits. It's pretty rare. You'll have better luck with the artisinals/bardics, credit sales, unique competitions, etc.

Actually, no. I don't have anything in planar except for survey. Yet I am regening health and mana and not taking any damage from being on the earth plane. The only thing I can think of that is allowing this is tainted in geomancy.

Otherwise, I have no clue how but I can survive...

At this rate...I will be too. I can't draw and my writing sucks so the contests thingies are out. Besides, I look at it this way. By having to regain all the skills I lost, I will learn patience...which I really need. I will also get closer to demigod plus, I can find new ways to make gold and explore more thus increasing my knowledge of the basin. So in a way, it was drastic but I think it might be worth it. I hope

Hey, you know, if it works for you, that's awesome. The road less traveled. The rocky path. All that sorta thing. smile.gif And if you cycle through grubs/gargoyles and spectres enough, maybe you'll win power contests and get some that way too! laugh.gif

I get most of my credits from bashing gold. Won some from the server stress test hamsterhunt back in January (?) and there was that 50k single number bet in roulette even before that. Everything since has been from bashing gold.

I set a goal. I am trying to clear 1000 power before this year is out. IG year I mean. So far at 301 in the last 6 months. biggrin.gif So I just got 699 more to go. And gargoyles? Not sure where to find those or how hard they are...

And me! It's not that tough, you just have to have persistence.

And more skills than omni-inept

Omni-inept. Heh I love that. *sets title to Apprentice Kayne, Master of Omni-inept skills*
Unknown2007-12-02 06:59:31
You're Kayne? lol

the plot thickens
Veonira2007-12-02 06:59:54
Well.

Seeing as you are a Geomancer, I know they might be having a contest right now that has a credit prize and I think is giving away credits or gold to anyone who even -enters-...so...

*hint hint...nudge*

Also, you should never forget skills to learn others, IMO. You lose lessons (and typically a bunch) along the way and I know I've done it in the past and regretted it (forgot dramatics only to relearn it to the same place). I suppose it doesn't hurt as much with things like dramatics/aethercraft/arts which you really don't need, but with planar and such you are probably going to end up relearning them anyways.

I know Magnagora has city credit sales on occasion, as does the guild, so that's one way to get credits. Even if you don't think your writing is great, it doesn't hurt to submit bardics anyways just to try it out. And I've bashed in the past to get credits, and gotten about 50K on a really intense day which is about 10 credits now. There's ways to do it!
Arvont2007-12-02 07:11:51
It's not really hard to raise gold with bashing. Moors give me 3000 one side. Do both (Krokani and Aslaran), you have 6000. Plus that thing with the Cook that opens up. Problem is, I can only do this at offpeaks.
