How would the Trojan pass through the browser? What does it use?

My AV is recognizing both trojans as IFrame trojans.
Forren2007-12-12 03:30:40
Ah, looks like an Internet Explorer bug exploit.

Firefox ftw.

Detection doesn't mean you would have been infected.

The information about the trojan seems to indicate it uses an Internet Explorer vulnerability.
Acrune2007-12-12 03:52:20
Hmm, Norton didn't find anything. Yay.

I use AVG and I've been to the scrying pool four times in the last couple days. AVG runs a scan every morning at 7:45 and at 4:00pm... I haven't gotten any viruses. Maybe AVG is not picking it up?

However, it -did- freeze my browser both times I went to the site. I went back to the site the second time (after two failed attempts) and it worked fine.

I also use Firefox, with ABP (adblock extension).

The envoy wiki is not used anymore (I don't think), does the Scrying Pool get used much?

I live and breathe scrying pool.

Not sure-- all I know is that I have ABP and NoScript, and I had to reboot to get one of them cleaned off (other one was cleaned just fine without a reboot).
Aison2007-12-12 04:19:13
I hate dealing with viruses...
Unknown2007-12-12 04:25:09
I go to the scrying pool every day, and sometimes just read things on it when I'm bored. I'd not like it if it was gone. sad.gif

Also, AVG hasn't been catching any for me either. However, just yesterday I was looking through my current processes in the task manager, and I noticed several I never seen before that looked suspicious. I ran adaware, and it caught a lot of things.

So run a spyware checker in addition to your virus scanner.
Aison2007-12-12 04:32:59
Ah, was going to run adaware after AVG finished. Thanks for the heads up.
Unknown2007-12-12 05:35:47
I use Avg and it seems to be picking it all up. you both running 7.5 or higher or what?
Unknown2007-12-12 08:29:34
It should be fixed now. I think. Let me know if anything bad happens again. rolleyes.gif

Running 7.5... it didn't pick anything up. Adaware picked some stuff up and got rid of it. I'm not worried, pretty sure my computer is clean.
Unknown2007-12-12 11:44:35
I use it like, daily...Good thing I have linux, no virus for me smile.gif

This is probably moot point/dumb question, but do you have it update itself? If you have an always-connected-to-the-web kind of connection, then everytime you log in/turn the computer on, it will update. Otherwise, you need to do it manually when you're connected to the internet.

Just for the record, I use it constantly, all the time, any time, etc. The Scrying Pool, that is.

And Norton's crap, for the record...

It's really that dissimilar to IE?
