I'm not entirely sure about this... but are any of you that are having issues with Cmud using Windowblinds or some such equivalent program?
Daganev2007-12-28 20:09:13
I'm using Vista.

Well, I reinstalled CMUD about three times, and finally the sipping is actually firing! Still have to check on affliction curing, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that'll work if the sipping is.

Any ideas of what was done differently or what changed so that the rest of us might more easily fix our problems? Thanks.

As far as installation - of both CMUD and the package, absolutely nothing. I did it the same way, from the instructions, verbatim. Now, there is one thing that I'm thinking it might be. When I open up a connection to lusty (through mudbot), I get two tabs (windows) - one says CAT2, the other Lusternia. I think before it *might* have been connecting on the Lusternia window. I think because of that, certain triggers in the CAT2 package weren't firing.

Now, I'm connected through the CAT2 window and it's working so far. If you go into to Settings, and you try to create a trigger under the Lusternia package, it won't fire if you're connected through CAT2... So what I'm doing is I went into Settings, I HIGHLIGHTED the CAT2 package at the top (Note: I don't mean just the tab that says "CATPackage" I mean the CAT2 under that in the little folders tree) then I hit New => Module, named that module Custom Settings, and am now building my class structure under that. So when you look at the folder tree, it'll have CAT2 package at the top, and then two modules: CleanPackage and Custom Settings. Triggers in the new module WILL fire, I've tested this already.

This is probably a horribly sloppy thing to do, but it's working, and that's how I operate - sloppy, but functional. smile.gif Lemme know if you need more help and I'll try my best.

Bah, one more thing that I just found out, make sure in Settings, you right click the CATPackage tab, select Package Properties, and uncheck Read only.... if you don't and you create the new module, it blows up... why CMUD would allow you to create it when it's read only in the first place is beyond me, but meh.
Daganev2007-12-28 23:10:09
Thats, that makes a lot of sense. Things started breaking after I forced closed the Cat2 window, cause I was like, I want to connect to Lusternia, not cat2.
Burke2007-12-28 23:39:45
Yeah. Though I'm sure there's a simple, safe way of making it work... then again, maybe two windows are supposed to be open. I dunno. CMUD weirds me out.
Takeise2007-12-29 00:38:27
Unless I am mistaken, the CAT2 window just serves to show you what the system is doing. It shouldn't be connecting. If it is, go to the main setting window for CATPackage, and select No Network Connection.

You can also select to turn off the window, but I'm not sure as to whether or not that is a smart idea.
Burke2007-12-29 00:43:22
Hmm, I'll try that out tomorrow... when I'm ready for another headache. Thanks. biggrin.gif
Catarin2007-12-29 14:39:17
There shouldn't *be* a CAT2 window. I ti s not there serving any purpose so if you have one, feel free to delete it.

Catarin, are you running Cmud through Mudbot as well?

No. I actually only added the feature to be able to run it through Mudbot as a favor to one of my beta testers. The system wasn't designed with Mudbot in mind.

Okay, thank you!!!
Eldanien2007-12-30 16:55:19
I'm guilty. It seemed to me that there would be a large number of people who would want to use Catarin's system and LMTS at the same time. I knew of a couple of people from the start, and it looks like I was correct in that there are others. I just hope the additional exposure is worth the potential headache of the extra support.

I've since stopped using CMUD and gone back to MUSHclient - call it a case of the devil I know, coupled with hardheadedness. I'm not knocking CMUD or Catarin's system. CMUD was nicely responsive and had all sorts of great features, and Catarin's system was at the very least an excellent learning tool or starting base to build a personalized system from. I'm just itching to revive Project L (or at least the MUSHclient part).

On an unrelated note...

Rian, I look at your sig and wonder why you're mixing punches with tahto strikes. Is it lack of Ka? I'm hoping you've changed your hunting form since then. As far as hunting forms go, two punches would be better than a punch and a tahto strike. Or two tahto strikes, since the punching arm regains balance much earlier and has to wait anyway for the tahto arm to regain balance before the next form fires off.

Hmm, I all have to make an alias to turn it off during fights then.

Any suggestions?

This system should come with a warranty in case it eats all of your kafe. Twice. sad.gif
Daganev2007-12-30 18:54:20
ok, this is getting wierd.

Sometimes the system stops working, and instead of reinstalling cmud I just make a whole new session, and then all the triggers work fine in that session. Any ideas?
