If they gave Stealth the artifact-like veil effect, I'm going to choke.

It belongs in a skill called Stealth, really. But that ability alone would make Stealth > Harmony.

It only lasts a few minutes, though, and costs 5p to put up, so you can't just leave it up all the time.

Good, I like that. Gives them Veil, but not constant.

And at first glance, my gut feeling is that I was right. Both Harmony and Stealth are OP against each other, as far as monks are concerned. Though I do wish they'd gotten a phase ability, so Mantra Banish had more reason to exist. I guess the Kephera were facing a lot of dreamweavers and necromancers. Or something.

I'm curious how Ooshmun works against Stealth.

I wonder why they got a snoop ability without the ability to steal. :ponder: I mean.. there aren't very many situations when knowing what's in your opponent's inventory is useful, is there?

I was hoping the Admin would not give them the ability to steal. I could see a lot of people using that just to grief people (and I am vehemently against theft). Good news, then. The ability to veil themselves -and- steal is just ridiculous.

And I think that veil affect should cost 8p, especially if it lasts longer than 60seconds. 5p means they can just get double veil-time. Which is going to be the biggest pain in the butt.

I don't see your reasoning behind the power cost for Veil. 60 seconds would be pointless for the ability, first off. And are you actually realizing how much power it would cost to keep Veil up even a small percentage of the time you're logged in? At 5 power a pop, even if it lasted 3-5 minutes, that's 60-100 power just to keep it up an hour. No ability has that sort of upkeep, even for things that are arguably better. So I'd say its fine at 5 power, unless it lasts a ridiculously short amount of time, in which case it needs to be dropped. tongue.gif But like 3-5 (preferably 5 or a little more tongue.gif) minutes would be a good time limit for it at the cost, I think.

I really think 5 would be the perfect number for 5 power. A power a minute is drastic enough that people can't keep it up for very long, but long enough that they can keep it up long enough to get a few things done.

Veil isn't as OP as you think, it just stops you being able to scry them or find them by conventional means, it does not hide them while they are standing in a room with you. And a 60 second skill like that would be useless. It isn't a skill that stops attacks, etc. It would be a skill to try to sneak into someplace or escape from someplace. Such as if I were to put on a Talkan mask, slip into Celest under deepcover, impregnate Aison, then be found out that it is I, Ildaudid. The city would come for me (while Aison swooned for me and tried to help me escape, declaring her undying love for her ninja laugh.gif) But I could use Viel to aid in my escape so that I couldnt be scried or pinned down on an exact location in the city.

They were trying to lower it some for the same power, which would be fine. I didn't look to see if it was lowered. Since it is a trans skill but it is not a trans skill that can be used for UBER killing. It is more of a kick and angel veil and no one can see if you are still there kicking the angel. So, the angel kickers will like it. -shrug-

Seems silly to lower the ratio from 1 power per minute without even seeing if it was overboard. I hope the Admin didn't respond with a knee-jerk reaction. Its a trans skill, and its not like it allows for anything super-duper awesome. I mean, seriously, whose going to pay 60 power to keep that up for an hour? Unless maybe you're hunting on astral and need a powersink, I can't see how it would even be feasible.

They didn't and it was the comittee's idea in theory, not the admin. We all thought 5 mins may be too long, but we are going to test it a bit first I think before they make any decisions on the matter.

I'm glad you guys are giving it a chance, cause, I dunno, 1 power per minute seems like a good solid ratio. But I guess 3 or 4 wouldn't be hugely worse. But I think below 3 and it would be nearly useless. Hopefully, if you decide 5 is too long you guys try to drop it to 4 before going straight to 3, just to make it as gradual a process as possible.

I'm just curious, but why is 1 power per minute of being hidden from who/scry/yadda yadda cheap? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm really trying to understand, cause it seems like a lot to upkeep over any length of time. And its not like they can really even keep it up during combat if they want to use any other abilities which might use power--plus, its actually going to be useless in combat. Its only good for coming or going.. not really any of the part in-between, unless you're bashing loyals, in which case they can still pretty easily track you down in a village or whatever.

Edit: Plus, I think you've got to think about bard forms. Even if they wanted to keep it up while bashing loyals, they're locked into a kata. If it drops during that kata, they can't just immediately re-raise it. 3 minutes doesn't exactly give much wriggle room. I'd say keep it at 5 minutes and raise the power if anything. So 5 minutes for 6 or 7 power if you have to.
