I like the idea of a separate peaced place that you could do PORTAL SEARCH SHOPS at, and enter all the manse shops at, while leaving the Aetherplex as it is. Maybe Trader Bob could open a shopping mall behind his store. The only good argument for peacing the Aetherplex is it's the only place in the world you can search and access all manse shops, so making it dangerous means making manse shops worth less while they still cost way more. A separate portal behind Trader Bob's shop that just gave access to manse-shops from a peaced location would solve this without taking away any conflict options.
Oooooh! I like that idea!

Are people who are minding their own business just browsing the shops honestly getting killed left and right? I don't see it happening. In fact even when huge brawls are going on at the aetherplex, I still see plenty of non-participants just standing around watching. We don't need it to be peaced, we don't need a special peaced room for shopping. We need players to remember this is a conflict based world and at some point in their existence they might have to see conflict! Good grief people!!! Are we honestly at the point that we're opposed to even being subjected to having to *see* a fight??

Mostly, it's dealing with the scrolling while trying to find a shop. There's a LOT of spam when people fight. You look at PORTAL SEARCH SHOPS and then you've got to scroll up and up and up because of all the spam. Meanwhile, who knows what's going on with your character down below. Noola has been killed that way - not that I'm upset about it now, nor was I upset about it then, but it did happen and I'm sure it's happened to others.
And to be quite honest, I'm frustrated with the combat loving people being so snippy about what seem to me to be perfectly reasonable requests simply because they provide an alternative to something for those who're less combat inclined. I don't think the Aetherplex should be peaced. I think if folks want to fight there, have fun! I do however get annoyed when I'm trying to shop for something and I have to deal with six pages of spam and scroll up and down for several minutes. So, an alternative has been suggested that a 'shop' portal room be opened. This idea prolly wouldn't ever happen anyway, but I think it's a good one because it allows you all to keep on fighting at the Aetherplex AND is more convenient for those of us who're just looking for some onyx gems or whatever.
It'd be one thing if *seeing* a fight just meant that there was the occasional "So-and-so, delt Whats-his-name a serious blow." or something during the fight - but all that spam is a little much when you're trying to actually find something.

If fights were happening all day long non-stop I'd agree. They're not. Adding a peaced room (with the potential for abuse as all peaced rooms have) seems wholly unnecessary.

For exactly this reason I don't think you have to worry. It'll end up being treated as a passing fad or something and dropped.

Yeah, like I said, it'll probably never be added. Which is fine. Not every idea, good or bad, is gonna be.
Mostly, my response was inspired by the "We need players to remember this is a conflict based world and at some point in their existence they might have to see conflict! Good grief people!!! Are we honestly at the point that we're opposed to even being subjected to having to *see* a fight??" portion of Catarin's post.
Which struck a nerve in two ways - First, constant use of the word conflict as just being the word battle only spelled different is mildly irritating, but that's a different issue. Second, it just seemed unnecessarily snippy. But maybe that's just cause I'm tired and cranky today and I'm seeing snippy where no snippy was intended.

I figure people are reluctant to go there in the first place for fear of getting caught up in something. But really only on the basis of this thread, not on anything I ever saw in-game, and I was just brainstorming ideas. If my suggestion takes 15 minutes of development time, maybe it's worth it. If it takes 2 hours, it's not.
