I really love the gnomes and ironbeard. It's a chance to get something for free, so there's really nothing to whine about. Plus, I think it makes the holiday season a little more cheery.

I think the only way you'd satisfy everyone is by giving out free artifacts to all
I'm not even sure that would work. Last time Ironbeard was around there was also a "free to everyone" thing (credits or lessons or something) and it didn't ease the griping, because even if it was equal to the average value of the gifts, it wasn't equal to the highest value of the gifts people heard about other people getting.

Zaffir tells you, "Yes, but I had that in a message form so I could send it to
everyone I'm friends wtih."
Zaffir tells you, "This is so awesome."
You tell Brother Zaffir La'Saet, Student of Malice, "Heh, glad you're enjoying
it."
Zaffir tells you, "I am I am. this is most lessons I've ever had so far."
Zaffir tells you, "Farthest I've ever been. the divine don't even know how much
I've needed this."
You tell Brother Zaffir La'Saet, Student of Malice, "Maybe Lady Luck did."
Zaffir tells you, "I was so depressed cause of my might being crap, cause I've
changed guilds so many times and been getting hunted a lot lately, and now I am
finally getting myself up where I need to be."

That made me feel better.

That' makes me sad.
Why would anyone be that mean?
Unknown2007-12-23 03:07:50
Using tracking to find the gnomes can be meh.
But being sad about other people's fortune? That doesn't sound very holiday spirit-like either O_o
Except when people rub it so blatantly in others faces of course *cough* *point above quote*

Why would anyone be that mean?
The only one I know about, it was done because the person in question had robbed a Glomdoring shop, clearing out everything in it, and refusing to return anything, even the paintings.
That isn't to say it's a GOOD thing, that's just the reasoning I heard.

Are you saying I'm not holiday spirity cause I feel bad that people are getting debated out of gnomes they've found? Cause I don't think you're right about that. Feeling bad cause someone's basicly getting their gift stolen doesn't seem anti-holiday at all to me.

I'm still waiting for Estarra to pull a Hogfather and bring out a skeletal Ironbeard.

That sounds like something she would do!
(do it!)
Arix2007-12-23 05:04:53
And the bit about ganking people or debating their ego away. Krellan, Daganev and Kaervas will have to get their presents the old fashioned way

From the one person I saw it happen to... well, let's just say they're not popular; that might of had something to do with it. But one of the Mag novices had a gnome debated out of them... that was pretty lame. I'd take one from someone, but at least give the gift back to them out of guilt because I have a heart .
That's why you got the lump of coal from me, Krellan. Daganev and Kaervas I wasn't so brave to take on

Hey, maybe Avechna could take Ironbeard's place for a while.
Arix2007-12-23 05:14:31
why did you give me coal though? Not that it wasn't appreciated, I was nearly out
Shamarah2007-12-23 05:18:23
Hey, was that you who mailed me coal then?
Verithrax2007-12-23 05:20:13
I would be happy if everyone got something, even if it's a silly or not necessarily useful. Then we can trade our gifts with people who'll find them useful!

I was referring to other posts about people being sad when other people found gifts, not when someone else got it stolen. I'm not that big of a grinch!
