But didn't Illith only splinter into the Illithoid a few IC decades ago, when the Nexus Worlds were discovered and she sucked up all the Taint? When she failed to consume Kethuru and break free, she splintered, right? Or am I missing something?

Smells like a plot hole to me, because I was under a similar impression. I wasn't clear on whether it was related to the Nexus worlds or not, but it certainly makes sense, and I definitely had the idea that Illith splintered only recently, which is why it's only now that they broke out into the surface.

Maybe Ardrak/Ubaidi/Osierti/whoever are all speaking very broadly about the Illith-Keph conflict thousands of years ago spreading into the illithoid-kephera conflict of today.

The fact that it was supposedly Illith's trapped half that was feeding on the Taint? When you hear Illith's story, she says herself that it was her attempting to feed off of Kethuru during that event, and that when she failed, she splintered.

I've always been interested in the timeframe of Lusternia. Like, how long ago was Ladantine's reign, how long ago were the Elder Wars, etc, etc.

A timeline wouldn't go amiss!
