When I tried to break the Heatherwood family name or bond that is, my name was stripped but I was still recognized that I was within the Family. What if for some off chance that someone wanted to start over fresh, but was not out of the portal of fate. They had problems within the family or such and such got divorced, and then caused more problems. I feel we should get a second chance by any means for those who have had problems leaving their families. I am now stuck with the Heatherwood name for life and I suppose if everyone else is fine with that then this thread won't make much progress. I would like to hear everyone else's side on this deal however and what they think if it should change or stay the same.

Yeah, I've met the same problem, although it hasn't affected me personally. It is irritating especially since it says in HELP FAMILY:
Except it isn't true at all
QUOTE
You can reject your family by FAMILY REJECT FAMILY, in order to not be actively associated with your birth family (if, for example, you wish to found a family house yourself).

The key word is ACTIVELY, though I've never understood the difference between Active and Inactive when it comes to families.

yea. same here. anyone know?

I'd ask Forren, he somehow managed to get totally removed from any family tree even though he was Acrune's son.

That's because he struck a deal with the devil, old news.

Doesn't seem quite fair actually , I don't know how that would happen but I would certainly make a deal with the devil to rid my cursed bond.

That's just the point - once you acknowledge blood, it's there. You can choose not to associate with it (inactive in a family), but it's still there. Can't change your blood.
So, you can still be part of another family. That would become your active family...just, can't 'wash away' that you were born into another.
Dysolis2007-12-23 21:46:30
Ah, and that needs to change. That's my problem.
Everiine2007-12-23 23:15:13
I think you should be able to break all bonds with a family you've married into and have no blood relations in (ie children), but if you are connected by blood, then blood is blood. I think the family help file last time I looked at it warned players that they need to seriously consider their families, since once you've found it, you're stuck with it.
