The next set of mythical facts about Chuckie, will be about how big a whimp he is.

I'm not surprised. Chuck Norris Jokes made anonymously on the Internet are one thing, but somebody actually publishing a book for profit and using Chuck's Name and License, etc., is a bit predatory and should be contested.

Nonsense. Anyone can figure out that it isn't meant in any serious matter, thus anyone shouldn't really be bothered by it - plenty of books has been made profiting from names of people, names of places - names of faeces, and just about every other thing, and it's simply a matter of free speech and a just a tidbit of a sense of humour.

Yes, I draw Mohammed. Daily. In fact, I have an entire album dedicated to just that man.

Err Penguin did this? One of the last respectable publishers that had spent the last decade on a full re-print of Classical Literature at an affordable price, and re-publishing of many 'great' works that were not classics and thus fell out of print, all for an affordable price... would lower themselves to this crap?

I like how it says...

QUOTE
Norris, who rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s as the star of such films as "The Delta Force" and "Missing in Action," says the book's title would mislead readers into thinking the facts were true.

... when the facts are things like "Chuck Norris's tears cure cancer."
Callia2007-12-26 22:35:55
They are assuming that the average reader would have the intelligence and common sense of the average World of Warcraft player... which would make that statement completely valid.

I think everyone is tired of Chuck Norris jokes.
Morvior2007-12-26 22:57:33
Would anybody like it if someone was making money from your name without giving you anything from it? On the internet, sure! It's harmless fun, Chuck Norris was even laughing about it on one of those TV shows at one time, but when it's put down into a money-making format, you have to think, 'Hey, why am I not getting my cut?'
Callia2007-12-27 00:10:48
well technically, when he made fun of himself with the Mountain Dew commerical, he let Mountain Dew make money off of his jokes. I do not think this book would be getting sued had he been consulted first.

Well, he was making money.

Chuckie wants a piece of the action. Which is a bit overtly capitalistic of him, but then again I lost all sympathy for him when I found out he's a creationist...
Stangmar2007-12-29 16:58:33
What does creationism have to do with this?
Verithrax2007-12-29 17:36:21
Haven't you gotten the memo? The leftist thought police has declared that people who don't understand evolution are now sub-human and fit only for slave labour in our crack mines. Also, truth is falsehood, war is peace, and freedom is slavery.

The depiction of warped logic in both cases.

It's stupid. As is this new thing of him.
Really, selling a book like that just gives him more publicity, and last I checked, any publicity was good publicity. (As long as it doesn't have to do with a ranch and little kids)

you know.. that isn't a chin behind his beard.. it's another fist

All hail Big Brother! Now, if we could just get them to handle our medical insurance, pay us for having a ton of children, and keep those pesky people from smoking/drinking/swearing/doing other horrible things, and make other generally inconvenient decisions for us, life would be so much easier.

As always, I'll take this challenge. Go ahead and start a real world post about that warped logic and why it's so stupid, and I'll teach you how you are wrong! rolleyes.gif

I don't discuss creationism with creationists, just as I don't discuss a flat earth with Flat Earth Society. I do discuss real things with real people, though.

Regarding FES, feel free to do it yourself.
