I dunno much..if anything about Monk combat.

But you really REALLY have to watch for recklessness against bards. They give it alot, and when they hit as hard as Narsrim you can't risk recklessness sticking like it did at the end. That being said, he got lucky that it hit when it did.

Keep track of what you have grappled. If your grapple combo gets broken... there is no reason to break the next one as well simply because you'll still have them grappled and will try to punch with that arm.

Buy a gust enchantment, or simply leave before he sets up octave, maelstrom and everything else.... or since you're wise and weren't spamming earwort everytime you could... eat one when backed up and leave in one motion. No matter how you look at it, he wasted a lot of power, and you remain alive.

psh, fighting in maelstrom sucks. A FM alias is nice, as FM cures a good number of aff's from glamours and works on its own balance. As well is an earwort Alias, so you can leave the room. Perfect fifth and Octave did you in, cant leave the room to escape passive aff's and and can't heal auric ailments. you had like 2.3k before the final maelstrom hit, and you took damage (indigo whorl) and reckless. Which spells doom as soon as he checked your health, he knew he could one shot you from there. When i fight bards, its alittle of a hit and run. Generally people dont keep Truehear deff, but its important for the powerful ones, to be able to escape on demand. Also, Tirenae's been telling me the wind Harmony can get you out of the room regardless of Perfect fifth. So perhaps throwing that up works. ( i've yet to try it since i dont have it, but i believe Tir.) As for your offense, Narsrim is a bard, Less reliability on grapples (he dodges quite often, and screws you in the middle of a form, and can sit there while you grapple him and let aff's do the work) and more on paralysing his sides. Legs are nice if you can keep him down (like starkick+stun), but he has spring-up so it won't be for long. Remember, there is alot of rooms in the arena for a reason, don't be afraid to fall back and cure. That's all i have for now.

Stay mobile when you can't get a kata working completely, and most people go into fights against monks ready for head blows. Might want to take that into account. Wind is pretty nice for getting out of those situations, I would suggest using it as well. Also, either have a back up form in case you get stuck in grapples or have a ka release alias ready for when you get caught in a grapple.
