Ever notice that when someone is really really liberal, or really really conservative, unless you actually label them as one or the other at the outset, they can often sound like the opposite of what they would normally be called?


Like, some really extreme feminists who are very very pro handgun ownership.

Or the one person who wants to preserve the woodlands for the sake of the environment, and the other person who wants to preserve them so they can continue to go hunting with the weapons they "salvaged" off a decommissioned russian battleship?

Well, the theory is, that handguns being what they are act to eliminate the physical advantage that a typical male would have over a typical female. I never really felt like it's a particularly well thought out thing, but if you're already out there on the "all of society is against my demographic" fringe, I can "see the point".

A few years back there was a feminist activist who was one of the "go to for commentary" people, until there was some, for lack of a better word "snarkiness" over gun ownership/control issues. At any rate, it's just an example that popped up.
